My Mom got remarried four years ago and wore a stunning, floor-length, low cut in the back, ivory gown with a sweep train. It was gorgeous.
Oh you know the troubles I had until I found THE dress. I think it was perfect and I received tons of compliments on the dress, hat and boots. Too bad I wasted the money on that other horrible custom dress, but I have decided to donate it to Salvation Army and hope that it will make some bride-to-be very happy! Strangely enough, Gioavonni's CHANGED their return policy afterwards! Ain't that something?
I just had my encore wedding in August and wore the Marisa 815 (no embellishments or beading but layers of asymmetrical organza).
I LOVE my dress!! I have had it for what seems like EVER and it hangs in the bag waiting for me to loose the final 20 pounds and take it in to have it altered!
My best friend was out visiting from FL and I got to put it on again and I because extreemly happy we are not getting married in the HOT So Cal summer like we had initially wanted - that dress is thick and heavy! I thought I was going melt!
To top it all off (or maybe to add filling?) I got super sexy HOT PINK underthings for it - so thank goodness that it is thick, you can't see through it at all!!
I'm doimg a lomg, ivory gown. It's te Watters WToo Clarisaa

I love the back. I'm concerned with how simpe it is from the front. I wanted "understated" but think I will need to bling it p with the jewelry & hair piece!
@mkendrick- Your dress is beautiful.

my dress this time is a davids bridal 9t9642
i wanted short and simple, fiance wanted me to treat it like the first wedding, not the second... and once i had tried this on, i felt like a first time bride all over again.. and thats all that matters, right?
At first I thought I wanted a short dress, not specifically because I'm an encore bride, but because I wanted something fun and to keep everything fairly light (our wedding is going to be small so I didn't want a super fancy dress anyway).
I tried on a few short dresses and while they were pretty - I never got THE feeling. When I put my dress on (ASM 3040 by Sottero and Midgely) I DID get THE feeling. "She" (I always refer to my dress as "she" or "her") was the one.
Overall, it's a fairly simple dress, no real embellishments to speak of, but for me it's absolutely perfect. I truly think encores can have WHATEVER dress they love.
@SanDiegoAli - I tried on a short dress too, just to see. I loved the dress but it didn't feel like a wedding dress and I couldn't help but think "FI's family and FI will feel ripped off!" It's his 1st wedding and I just couldn't do it and I did want to feel like a bride.
I searched HIGH and LOW for eons... My first (HUGE) wedding was nearly 20 years ago, I wore white lace over satin, 3/4 sleeves, no train. Because I'm a widow, and it's my FI's second wedding too, we are planning something scaled down for our beach wedding. I had my heart set (I thought) on a flowy Tiffany Blue/Aqua dress... in chiffon or similar. I could never find the right thing, if I found a dress it wasn't available in the right color, or fabric or the fit was off. By a atrange set of circumstances at a Maggie Sottero trunk show, I was encouraged to try on a gown, from that point on, I felt like a bride... none of the other dresses did it for me. After that and a few shops later I found the perfect one...it's Watters & Watters, flowy, ivory organza, a little bling and perfect for me.
I wanted something a bit more me this time around. I loved my first dress, it was big and princessy...but not necessarily me. This time I got a beautiful, halter drop wiasted gown with a little detail right about the train. I just LOVE IT!!
I wasn't sure whether ivory would be considered "white" or "colored." However, mine is definitely a long traditional bridal dress. Here are some pictures:

Even though it is my second wedding, it is my fiancee's first. She wanted a long traditional bridal gown. And once I saw her in it, I didn't want to look like I had straggled in from a different wedding.
I love all of the bees dresses! I am an encore bride too and I can tell that I am older b/c my gown is not the trendy type, although my street clothes are but my encore dress is timeless! The maggie strapless milana.
I bought the J Crew Cecelia for its classic simplicity but I now feel perhaps it is too simple... I might do some more shopping around.

@sf_carrie - I love your dress. It is simply classic. Nice. Especially for a city hall wedding.
My attire - I plan to wear pants. However, I am changing toward the end of the reception for the after party and plan to wear a short dress (very short... mini dress). Something sexy to dance in.
@11.11.11Bride, thanks! That's exactly what I was going for but I was afraid it might be too plain. I'm going to mull it over a bit more and see how I feel after hopefully dropping a few pounds. I love your idea of wearing pants (uber-chic!) at the ceremony and then a mini (fun!) at the reception!
I'm planning my encore and I chose a floor length ivory bridesmaid dress but it looks like a regular wedding dress. My friend just got married for her 2nd time and she had a Nicole Miller navy blue dress and looked GEORGEOUS!!!
In my opinion I feel like this time around I've got it right and I want to make sure I have my dress and veil be perfect for the perfect guy :) I know, cheesy, but he's totally the right one for me and the first one I was still learning what worked and what didn't!
I wanted to "explore" my options so fiance and I went to a local DB. He forced me to try on a few ivory long dresses. When I came out of the dressing room with one he became the misty eyed hound dog- of my dreams so we had to buy it. Lo and behold- its on the front cover of the Oct issue of modern bride. I've never had a dress from a magazine cover before. I would call it an omen for the second time around.
