Thoughts of getting married at a zoo or attending a wedding at a zoo?

@tynakinnon:  I was heartbroken when I found out I couldn’t afford to have my wedding at our local zoo.

But it turned out alright for us, because the reception would have been held in the giraffe building, and I’m sure it would have stunk of poop the entire time. I wouldn’t have minded the smell of poop, but I’m sure many of my guests wouldn’t have enjoyed it.

Does your zoo have a dedicated hall just for receptions? Or will you be literally surrounded by animals?

I think it’s awesome, especially if your local zoo already offers it and has some amazing spots to use as venue space. We considered it at one point.

Zoos smell weird, but as long as the ceremony is in an area that doesn’t smell like animal poos it would be really cool

I wanted to get married at our zoo so bad, but they had a minimum limit of guests. Made me so upset. I think it would be awesome to go to a zoo wedding!

My sis got married at the zoo, it was beautiful, and that was before they built a special area just for ceremonies and special events. It was unique too. And it fit her perfectly, she’s an animal fiend- she would OWN a zoo if you let her have her way. My boys wore leopard print vests in the wedding, it was so cute!

@tynakinnon:  I wanted to have my wedding at the zoo near where I grew up so bad, one of the nicest zoos in the world, but the cost was too high. 🙁 I’d be psyched to attend a wedding at a zoo though!!

If it were in any way possible for us to have our wedding at a zoo we’d be there in a heartbeat!!!!!

I would LOVE to go to a wedding at a zoo. Not sure I’d have mine there because sometimes the rooms can look a little confrence-y and it could smell a bit weird in places, but obviously that depends on the zoo!

I think it’s an awesome idea 🙂 one of my bridesmaids was going to have her wedding at a zoo (until her FI finally expressed his feelings that the wedding was way too big for his taste/their taste – something I knew but didn’t want to say lol).  I thought it was hella cool, just big compared to their initial courthouse desires.  However… I have seen photos of a zoo wedding with an elephant sh*tting in the background lol so that’s a consideration.

My friend was MOH at a wedding at Melbourne Zoo. She said it was cheaper than a lot of similarly sized venues, and the guests LOVED it, because during the photos they could wander around the zoo rather than standing around awkwardly. I couldn’t afford it, but I would have loved to do this!
