Awww no! I think this is SO fun! We're doing trivia at our wedding cause all of our friends play (both here and in Atlanta and both groups of friends- his and mine) so I think it would be fun!
Personal touch that would make your wedding fun and memorable -- yes, this! It fits with a casual restaurant reception, and it makes sense given your background. I'd be up for it! FI and I love to play card games (not for money) like poker or cinch. I have actually thought about trying to incorporate that somehow, too. I say go for it!
I think it's awesome!
But I also met my FI while playing Texas Hold 'Em!
We are renting a Roulette table and having it at ours!!! And we are doing it for money as well....10 cents a chip or so....and people can win and a portion goes towards to bridal and groom!! hehe
Totally cool! I wanted poker tables, a craps table and guitar hero stations but couldn't get it together (destination wedding in a small town). I would absolutely go for it.
I think it would be good after all the wedding events. People can really get into the games and ignore what's going around them, at least that's what I think I would do.

OK, I know this sounds a little crazy, but this is my thought. I am having my reception at a restaurant in my hometown and I worked there for 3 years in high school and college. I was very close with my manager (who is the event coordinator for my wedding) and co-workers. When I worked there, we used to play poker after work every night and now I am something of a card shark.
Our reception will be on the casual side and we have a pretty young guest list, many of whom like poker and have played poker with me (and my FI's relatives enjoy playing cards). I was thinking of setting up a poker table at one of the outdoor tables so that people could play if they wanted to. (I was thinking about having some sort of small "prize" for the chip leader at the end of the night or something so that people don't have to play for money)
Thoughts? Is it ridiculous and tacky? Or is it a nice personal touch that would make my wedding fun and memorable?
