Hi ‘bee’s! So just signed up for this site today after discovering it a few months ago when I was looking for engagement ring ideas. I finally found one I liked and had it custom made by a local jeweler so it was way cheaper than paying for the ‘name brand’ ring. When my fiance and I went to look at the raw casting of the ring I was surprised to see that in the middle of the split shank the band was showing instead of my skin. I had given the jeweler pictures to copy from and the band was not showing through the middle. Anyways I expressed my concern about it but decided in the end to just keep it as is and finish the ring. Well my now fiance picked it up all finished and surprised me with it on June 28th. Even though I LOVE my ring I’m still a bit concerned about the band showing through the shank…In a way I think its different and modern. I also have a 5.25 finger and the center stone is .6ct if anyone wanted to know.
But all in all, what do you guys think? Dont be afraid to be brutally honest 🙂
Also excuse my gross nails =/ haha

I would have it changed to your original vision without the metal. But if it has grown on you and you prefer it, why change it. Congrats btw!

I would prefer it to show skin. Right now the band takes away from the center stone.

I would prefer it without the band showing. It looks too busy and takes away from the design.

hmmmm honestly, the band really is distracting…

I don’t like that the band is showing, but if you like it that’s all that matters.

At first glance I thought those were side stones – which would be a perfectly fine option. I’d prefer without the metal, and let your skin show.

I feel the band showing messes up the lines of the ring. skin showing instead of metal would be more graceful.

I have a split shank band and tried on two similar ones before getting mine made. One had the band showing, the other didn’t. I strongly felt that the band was distracting from the centre stone and had my ring made without any metal showing. I think your lovely centre stone needs some skin to showcase it 🙂

I don’t like the band showing at all.. Id either have that area removed like it should be, or add stones there because it also looks like sidestonds would be pretty I that space. But the band showing looks strange and out of place to me.

Agree with the others, I’d get it changed so you can see skin 🙂
