I don’t like vests because men in them always look like DJs to me.

@HonoraryNerd:  I think the whole wedding process should be about staying true to who you are. So, I say he should rock it if that’s what he would feel good in.

However, with that said, if you honestly want to know what most guests will think when they first see the outfit, it would definitely be the last option in your poll before “other.” I hate to say that, but it’s true :/

I think it could work definitely, as long as the theme and mood was right. FI is trying to wear a flannel underneath his vest, and I can see it fitting because it fits HIM and US. 😀

It’s the ruffle shirt that I can’t get past. Vests, cool, bowties…not my taste but they work for a lot of guys. I just can’t do the ruffles on a guy.

@HonoraryNerd:  I would edit your original post to include this new picture so the baby blue isn’t the only pic voters see. This new photo is a better visual.

Still can’t get past the ruffles, but if it’s what y’all love and want, go for it!

I am from a group that loves their costumes.    That said… I really don’t think weddings are the place for costume-y or gimicky clothing.

I love it! Especially if he’s a quirky dresser, normally!

I can totally see this going really well or really bad.  To keep it good I would for sure go with the black vest and white or light colored shirt.  I would stay very far away from pink vests.  Pink vests with ruffled shirts gives me flash backs to a Barbie and Ken wedding set from the 80’s that I had.  It was a good look for Malibu Ken, but real life not so much.

@HonoraryNerd:  So, here’s my main question – what’s the rest of the wedding like?  Time, venue, decor, etc?

The other things I would ask myself are “is this something I think is cool right now, or is this something I like,” and “do I care if it looks silly to me years from now.”

If you think of things like powder blue Tuxedos, 80’s poofy sleeves on dresses, etc., they were super popular, and people loved them at the time. Most people that wore them then, wouldn’t wear them if they got married now.  Some of those people look at those pictures and are mortified that tey would ever wear such a thing.  Other people look at them and go “hey, that was me at the time; I loved it then, and I have no regrets.”  He should ask himself which, of those two types of people, he is.
