I need ring help again!
Do you like this ring? My bf is leaning towards finding a ring where the side view of the ring shows the diamond in it’s entirety or as much as possible without trying to cover it with a basket like this ring. What do you ladies think?? When you look at the ring from the side, do you just notice the diamond basket and two side stones or do you also zone in on the diamond too? A local jeweler is contacting the designer to see if he will do the same design ring but get rid of the diamond basket as well as close the gap of the ring by adding another round diamond between the two hidden ones. Which way do you think would like nicer? I’m about at my wits end. I really thought this might be the ring but I want my bf to love it as much as I do and now I am second guessing myself about whether it’s the one now. Hopefully I will hear from the jeweler today about whether the basket can be gone and about closing the gap, which I do think would look nice that way too.
What are your thoughts on this ring as is or with the changes, if we are able to do them?

It’s beautiful as it is. Is it comfortable, though? It looks like a Verragio I tried on, and the amount of thickness between the fingers drove me utterly to distraction.
I always dreamed of a Verragio, but ended up choosing my ring based on its ability to allow my fingers to sit as flush as possible against one another. Might be something to think about. I’ve read about a couple bees buying Verragio, falling in love with the way it looks, and later being driven nuts by the fact that it sticks out so far.
Not saying don’t do it–a lot of bees have Verragios and love them–just saying make sure you spend a decent amount of time with it on to be sure that it won’t bother your hand.
No one will be able to see the gap with your wedding ring on, especially if you do an anniversary band on the other side in the future.

I’d keep it as is–it’s perfection. Also, people won’t be inspecting the side view unless they are inches from your hand. I find people don’t even notice rings in general for more than a few fleeting seconds unless they are also on the hunt:-) And then it’s just “oh she has a big/small/round/square rock.”
Pull the trigger!

Holy smokes, that ring is GORGEOUS. I agree about closing the gap, but I just adore the basket.

I love cathedral settings so I love that ring 🙂
I don’t think the basket overpowers the diamond, but I understand how you want to remove it. I personally would leave it as it is.

Thanks for the replies ladies!
@EffieTrinket: It’s actually by Jack Kelege. It really does feel very nice on my finger. I know what you are talking about when it’s uncomfortable on the finger and I hate that feeling as I’ve had that happen many a times during the ring shopping process and take those off immediately, it’s just too uncomfortable.
I also love how the wedding band and the e-ring fit each other perfectly. I don’t know if anyone can notice, but if you look closely, the band is a little smaller than the e-ring band and it fits nice and snug right under the diamond basket, rather than push right up against it, making it very comfortable. And I like how the center stone will not be rubbing against the diamonds on the band.

@Buttercupmcgee: Lol, I’m trying to! 😉

If the e-ring and the wedding band sit flush as you say – then go for it! I like the ring!

@Diamond84: I like it! Gorgeous setting!
My diamond is set that way where you can see the entire thing from the side. I had no idea it was going to be done this way and was a little surprised it was set so high. I thought it would be more tucked into the halo. But I love it! The light shines straight through it and it’s so pretty!

I really wouldn’t change it. I think it looks really gorgeous just the way it is.

@GFerg: Oh wow, that side view with the open diamond looks really nice! I can see why my bf likes that. Gosh I really hope I don’t have the infamous ring regret depending on which route we go.
