Yes! We had been talking marriage for quite a while and then all of a sudden he started telling me he thought we should wait. I was super upset! You can’t just tease someone like that! But all along, he was just trying to throw me off. He definitely succeeded!

My fiance proposed on our anniversary, which is really obvious, but he threw me off by having me plan our day activity (I planned a picnic) and then bringing a really big box for my gift!  I thought there was no way I was getting a ring if he got me this huge other gift.  But he also had a ring in his pocket!

@ArmyBeee:  He proposed about a month after he “changed his mind.” That was probably the hardest month of our relationship. Just because I had gotten my hopes up that we would be getting married soon, and then I was trying to go back to being content just dating. We actually had only been dating about a year.

He told me that he would never propose on Christmas, my birthday, etc because it was “too cliched and expected.”

Then he proposed on Christmas Eve 🙂

I hope it will be the same for you!

@ArmyBeee:  My FI had said before he was gonna propose on my 23rd birthday, which was this past August. He didn’t, and for some reason I kept thinking it would happen on New Year’s Eve, which I mentioned to him. It happend on September 28, an absolutely insignificant day (well it was, now it’s very special!). He said he wanted me to be totally surprised, and I was! Didn’t see it coming at all.

@ArmyBeee:  This happened to me!  I was getting CRAZY about wanting a ring and I do now feel bad for putting DH through that.  The day before he ended up proposing, we got into a huge blow out and fought about the engagement.  He said that financially he wasn’t ready to purchase a ring and that I needed to chill out because the reality was, he wasn’t planning on proposing for another number of months and I was ruining any motivation to surprise me by constantly nagging him about it.  Well, this was a HUGE wake up call for me, and I realized what a crazy bitch I had been and I agreed not to bring up being engaged for a very long while.

The very next day, he picked me up from work, brought me home and had everything set up for a surprise proposal!  He’d ordered the ring two months before and was getting annoyed that I talked about it so much and he wanted me to be surprised, so he argued with me to make me think it wasnt happening anytime soon. Well it worked!  I was stunned and kept asking him if he was serious lolol.  It all worked out and now we’re happily married  🙂

@ArmyBeee:  My FI did 🙂 We both wanted it to be a surprise. Well I agreed but he really wanted it to be lol. After going ring shopping and everything 2 days after he told me how he had sme bills backed up. Honestly I wasn’t pushing and it really didn’t bother me that he wouldn’t be getting the ring as soon as I thought. We went on with life and I didn’t really fuss about it…. lol only once did I get diappointed and it was because I thought he had a picture of the ring when he spoke to my dad for his blessing and stuff. I looked on the screen and it was a totally different ring. My really close friend who is like a sister to me knew it was close and even tried to hint that his”bills” may be a way to get me off his trail. Trying not to get my hopes up I told her that I trust and believe him….2 weeks later and totally not planned because of my smart mouth he proposed.

He can be trying to surprise you but I also feel IMHO that pushign to much might either make the wait longer or more miserable. I enjoyed those 2-3 months of waiting( although we’ve been together for about 8 years) he was really sweet and even tho I didn’t know when I knew we were making steps to get to a new level in our relationship.

Good luck in waitign and I hope thigns work out and that you would have to long of a wait.
