I think its a fabulous idea but do you have the option to do it on sunday instead? Most people will have off work the following monday instead of that friday for labor day. I perosnally would have no problem taking off work the friday before a long weekend in order to enjoy myself at a thursday wedding but other people might not want to use a vacation day when they have one coming up. Something to think about :)
Personally I wouldn't go to a Thursday evening wedding, especially if it was some kind of drive. I agree with the PP, Sunday would work better that weekend since almost everyone has that monday off.

We just found our perfect wedding venue and the only way we can afford an evening wedding is to have it on a Thursday. They have the Thursday that precedes Labor Day weekend this year and think that could be a good thing with people taking the next day off for a 4 day weekend. We originally were going to do either a Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon/twighlight wedding, but think that this could be a good alternative.
Most guests will be coming from the NY Metro area to Long Island meaning they'll hit some traffic to make the 6:30pm ceremony. Any experiences/thoughts about this? Thanks!
