I chose Bill Levkoff style #438 for my bridesmaids (I don’t have a picture at work but if you google “Bill Levkoff 438” it comes right up, sorry!). I think the color is called ice blue… it’s the color that shows in a Google search. All along I’ve been (foolishly) assuming I could buy matching ties for the groomsmen from Bill Levkoff. My fiance started trying to accomplish this today and it’s looking like we could get material but not ties, and then we would need to find someone to make the ties for us.
Is this insanity?? Or a great idea?
I really want the ties to be the right color and it’s a REALLY tough color to match. It’s a pale blue but in some lights it almost looks platinum. I love the idea of making the ties out of the same material but I have visions of very “homemade” ties running through my head. I also wouldn’t begin to know where to go to get them made.
What do you girls think??

I’ve never heard of this being done…however I’m in a similar pickle…I want my four groomsmen to have four different (plaid, striped, polka dots and checkered) apple-green ties. Any help?

A good tailor could make the ties for you if the material is appropriate. Not all fabrics will make a good tie.

Do they have to be the EXACT same shade as the BM dress? I have had a tie custom made but this was just for a dress up thing in high school. the tie looked okay but it wasnt the greatest tie ever. I think the tailor has to be really good otherwise the ties wont look as high quality as ties in the store.

Share how you were able to get material from Bill! 🙂 I don’t think it’s out there! Do you know someone who can sew?
I picked Bill Levkoff dresses as well!
And my fiance is trying to order these ties.
I’m waiting on trying to get swatches from both places though!

There are people who sell ties on Etsy. You could try messaging one of the sellers and asking if they would make them with your custom fabric. They probably would.

@Kimmers127: Have you tried http://www.bows-n-ties.com/ ? My colors are in the land of dark teal/turquoise/mint green, and I had a hard time finding ties that would work, but this site did the trick!

@Donnica22 – I’m not 100% positive yet that we can… My fiance called the dress shop we ordered the bridesmaid dresses from. They said they did not think ties could be ordered but they thought we COULD get the fabric. I think he is currently waiting for a call back from them as they wanted to investigate the tie thing for sure.
The material is called tissue taffeta. Is that something that would lend itself to becoming a tie?

I also need groomsmen ties that match dresses by Bill Levkoff. I did some searching today and found this page through Pinterest:
I called them and I ordered a handful of different ties that (they ensured me) would match my color.

Yes, I had custom ties made by a seller on Etsy and they turned out incredible!! They came superfast and I even bought matching pocket squares that she monogrammed 🙂
Here is her webshop:
