I get so many great tips and so much helpful info from here, but I feel like I rarely contribute. So I figured I’d start posting – even if it’s only small tips.
This post is for anyone who has “invisible eyelashes” but maybe doesn’t want to take the plunge with Latisse, extensions or false lashes.
What I mean by having invisible lashes is that I have really light eyelashes, so it literally looks like I don’t have any if I don’t wear mascara. Even while wearing mascara, it never coats all of them so there are still a lot of invisible lashes. In addition, I do not have a steady hand and it never looks good when I put on liquid eyeliner.
I recently tried tightlining and eyelash tinting (thank you, pinterest). Basically, the tinting made all of my eyelashes visible, instantly and easily making them look so much longer and fuller. I didn’t even need mascara-just a curler. Although this was awesome, the aesthetician can’t possibly get to the “root” of the lashes since she would dye your eyelid skin in the process…so there’s still that invisible line at the base of your eyelashes. Although this completely isn’t noticeable to anyone not examining you with a magnifying mirror, tightlining completely masks this and makes your lashes look even more full.
Tightlining is basically eyeliner on the UNDERside of your eyelashes instead of the regular way of lining on top of them. There is a great tutorial on pinterest, but here is my quick version.
I took a cheapo angled eye makeup brush (like the one below) and dipped it very lightly in liquid eyeliner gel making sure it wasn’t clumpy (I used Bobbi Brown-and I think MAC’s formula is identical). Then gently traced along the underside of the eyelashes being careful to stay as close to them as possible and not getting any on the part that will touch your eye. I started in the outer corner and stopped where the lashes started get sparse towards the inner corner. I also put a little bit more on the outer corners for effect.
This is the tightlining result (not me, just a google image):
Not as dramatic as other options, but it’s a quick & easy enhancement! The lash tinting cost me $20 in the Philly area…I could get it in my small hometown for $12+tip. Since I wear jet black mascara, I got the black option but they do have brown shades (and blue! lol). If you already have the eyeliner and tools, this is pretty cheap.
Happy Friday! 🙂
