OK, I think I'm having a bride-brain moment. I'm getting married sunday, and 6 of my 8 bridesmaids have shorter dresses--2 long. They're all grape colored and everyone's dress is different. They are all wearing black shoes of different styles and they are all wearing the same flower fascinator in their hair on the same side with different styled hair. whew!

It's going to be unnaturally cold this Sunday AM for my morning wedding. We're planning to do outdoor photos before the wedding just after sunrise. The ceremony and reception are inside, but it's going to be around freezing. Some of the girls had asked to wear textured black tights and at first I said no on photos/ceremony but yes for the reception because I don't mind after the formal photos--but for those I would like everyone's legs to be the same color! :-) 2 girls would prefer not to wear tights, but they'll do what I ask if I want them.

The dilemma: tights or no? I think if they do wear them they should be all the same kind, but I don't know if they should be opaque, sheer or textured. I personally do not mind if they have them or not, I was just worried about them being cold.

I know this is really not a big deal but they're all asking me what to do. :-) Suggestions? I appreciate your input. :-)

I think textured or sheer should work, but I wouldn't go with opaque. I think since all the dresses are different, it would be best if all the tights were the same. I voted for sheer because that would please the most people and definitely wouldn't clash with the styles of any of the dresses.

How long will they be exposed to the cold? Frankly, I changed a tire in 15 degree weather the other day and my hands were exposed for like, 5 minutes. They got burnt from the cold and were red all night. I was miserable.

I think after 10 minutes in 32 degree weather they'll be FREEZING. I think tights are a necessity. And een if they all had on different black textured tights, I don't think it'd matter for photos as long as they are black, I think it's fine! I have textured black tights at home and you can't even tell they're textured until you get really close or feel them because they're just so dark dark.

Sheer is a no-no. Sheer tights will just look kinda icky. Even opaque ones--i think "business" when i think of tights like that. Like nylons, lol. Go with really dark ones that aren't see-through at all. Even textured would be fun--they're my favorite ideally.

I just think they'll be too cold and miserable with bare legs a-showing! And if you REALLY want them to not prefer to wear tights, tell them they can wear neutral ones, yes, like pantyhose. I have had to wear skirts to job interviews in February here, where it's FREEZING, and i always wear natural nylons. At least my legs are warm.

The low is supposed to get down to 0 on Friday, so the idea of bare skin out in the cold freaks me out! Plus, i doubt their dresses are warm! I'm shivering thinking about it!

I think it would be really cute in photos if they were all wearing tights!  I don't think it matters so much if the tights all match.

I like the tights.   And agree with textured or sheer.  No opaque.

I think if you are having photos outside and its going to be freezing you need to let them wear tights. I would not be too happy if I had to be freezing in a short dress to take photos, its not really fair. I think that if one wears tights they all kind of need to though. Personally, I think tights are adorable and im a little obsessed with them. I dont know what your dresses look like, do tights go?

Also I need to see the dresses before I vote on the texture.

i think it would be cute if they were mismatched, since the dresses are. but if you want them to be the same, i think you would be able to make the best decision since you know what their dresses look like.

Well, they all chose their own dresses and they are all really different. let me see. most are satin, two are chiffon. I think most are knee length with two tea-length. All of the shorter dresses have some kind of strap. They're all from Alfred Angelo, if that helps. I told them all to plan on bringing a warm coat, so they'll be able to take it on and off. Thanks for the input, you are giving me good things to think about.

ok, here's an idea of the short ones-- in grape! I don't remember what all everyone got-- I just cared about the color at the time. :-)

I think tights would be cute, but i would go with textured ones. Often in pictures of girls in tights, I can't tell if their legs are funny colors like too tan, or if there is a shadow. So if you do tights, make sure you can tell that they are tights! :)

I think tights would be adorable, especially mis-matched ones.

I'd opt for all matching tights, to tie them all together (since the dresses are different)!

Ok, I decided on no tights because I'm short on time/money to go out and get them all the same ones and i just.couldnt.decide. :-D So they are bundling up in between photos. And a couple are wearing tights for the reception. Thanks so much for your opinions and thoughts!

@jacqi aww thats so cute! I think if all my girls had the same dress that would have been awesome to do.

We went with no tights. They froze for photos outside but they were good sports about it, and we were inside most of the time!

nylons will keep everyone semi warm while still maintaining the formal look of wearing a bridesmaids dress.

fyi-- i live in tropical cleveland so i definitely understand wanting your girls to be comfy!

I prefer tights for formal outfits. In dresses I always go for beige sheer tights.
