Time off is opening up for my company in the next week. I keep going back and forth about how many days to ask off before my wedding. I am right now leaning towards 2, but I’m not sure if it will be enough. We have a three day weekend before the wedding to do stuff, so I would only be working 2 days the week of the wedding.
We are taking off for a honeymoon the Monday after our wedding for one week, and I plan to ask off the following Monday to unpack, destress, ect, so there is 6 days after the wedding off already, which has me nervous about PTO for the year.
IF you can give any details as to why you asked of the amount of time you did/what did you do with that time, that would be appriciated!

I’ll probably take 2 days off before. My mom is taking time off befoer the wedding as well so that will be a big help. I would rather take more time off after the wedding. I’ll probably take 12 days or so total 🙂

@Misswhowedding: My plan is to take off the 3 days prior to my wedding (so Wednesday through Friday). I was only going to take two, but I decided on baking cookies as favors so I will need the extra day. At this point I’m expecting to be baking Tuesday night and all through Wednesday. Thursday I suspect I’ll be working on programs, etc., and hopefully have time for a hair appointment, mani/pedi, and a massage. Friday is the rehearsal dinner, so I expect to be using the morning for last-minute details and errands, including dropping off all decor/favors/accessories to the venue.
Then I’ll be off for two weeks after the wedding. It’s likely that our vacation portion of the honeymoon will be about 10 days, but I’m going to take a full two weeks off. So, probably 13 days total.

@Misswhowedding: I took 1.5 days off. I took a half day thursday and obviously off friday. It worked just fine. I also took the next week off completely for the honeymoon plus another 3 days the next week. So the week I came back I only worked 2 days.

we had a semi deatination with a fair amount of diy and i took off 2days (thurs/fri for sat wedding)
i definitely had enough time but i also had a ‘crew’ of like 10 (family/friends) so to be honedt i didnt end up doing all that much. I liked being able to be settled and stress free so it worked for me and i think it was perfect. more time and might have gotten fidgety/nervous energy but any less and i would have been cutting it too close!

@Misswhowedding: I worked from home the week of the wedding so I had a more flexible schedule. I only took 2 days off (1 because I had hair and makeup trials and final dress fitting which took all day and 2 was the day of the rehearsal dinner). The other 3 days I was able to fit various things in around my work day. Had my wedding been where I live (vs. 8 hours from here) I would have only taken the day of the rehearsal dinner off.
After the wedding, I took 8 work days off (6 for honeymoon + 1 extra to unwind when we got back then needed 1 more day since I got sick).

@Misswhowedding: I took the whole week off before the wedding. BUT we rented a beach house with friends for the week leading up to the wedding so we just made it one big wedding week. I don’t know how I would have been able to concentrate on work that week since there was so much last minute planning to do. A co-worker of mine got married on the same day as I did and she also took the entire week before the wedding off. We both agreed that it was a good idea.

I took three days off. My first day was used to get my bridal mehndi applied, the second day was when all of our out-of-town guests arrived and the third day was the day before the wedding, so we were tying up loose ends and rehearsing. The timing was perfect.
I also only took the Monday and Tuesday off after the wedding to visit with friends who stayed here beyond the weekend — we’re not taking our honeymoon until February.

@Misswhowedding: i had the wednesday, thursday and friday off before our saturday wedding. however, its worth noting that our wedding was in a different state from where we currently live, so i figured i would need the extra days for organizing and smoothing things over. (i kinda did)

I work in another state, so if I don’t take the whole week off, I won’t be home to run errands after work or at lunch. If I worked in town, I would probably just do 2-3 days.

I took the whole week (starting Monday for the Saturday wedding). I had to drive to our wedding location (4 hrs away) with all our wedding stuff, do a TON of last minute DIY / organizing, and spend time with friends and family who who were coming in early from many states away.
The whole thing was like an extended family / friend reunion rather than a 1 day affair, plus we were only doing a minimoon so it didn’t really cut into our honeymoon time. It was great! But if you don’t think you need that much time and you don’t have a bunch of loved ones in town early, it wouldn’t be necessary.

I’m taking 3 mainly because our flowers are coming in the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding (ordered online) and because we won’t have much time for last minute stuff on the Friday before because we’re out of state and that’s when we’re driving up.

Our wedding is on a Tuesday, so I will be driving there on the Saturday before. I work Sundays so only technically taking off one day before the wedding. I am taking the whole week off though to be at the wedding (live in Texas, wedding in Florida) so will miss four days of work.

My wedding was on a Friday, and I took that day off as well as Thursday. I was back at work that next Monday.

Probably just one or two days before the wedding
