Well, it’s time! I need to make my final decision on my e-ring, and I am trying to figure out the difference between two rings from Moissaniteco.com. Can you help me?? I emailed Moissaniteco, but I want to get your take, too. I have a size 8 finger, and either of these will be in the 6mm (1.1 carat) cushion cut. I know they are super similar, which is why I am struggling! Both petite bands, the differences seem to be in the number of side stones (and how far they travel down the band), and the way the center stone is set.
The two rings in question: Eng184 (http://www.moissaniteco.com/cushion-moissanite-petite-halo-engagement-ring-p-16981.html) and Eng951a (http://www.moissaniteco.com/cushion-moissanite-diamond-petite-halo-style-engagement-ring-p-13092.html)
What do you see as the main differences in these two rings?
Which one do you think will sit lower?
Which do you like best???
Please excuse all the photos that follow 🙂 Thanks SO SO much for all of your thoughts!

I think the top one will allow for a straight band to sit flush better than the other.

@AliBeeG: I like the first one better

@AliBeeG: I chose the first design as it is pretty similar to my gf’s future engagement ring. However, i found that majority of companies (including the company from Etsy that I ordered from) has this same setting. The link below is of a company who sells settings to other companies. I didn’t really care about ordering my ring through a company that buys this setting from somewhere else, but i wanted to inform you just in case…

thanks for the comments so far! Really appreciate it. I failed to mention that I had 6 (I know, I am nuts) wax models sent from moissaniteco. Here is a photo of Eng184 on my finger (sorry for the weird hand close up). I didn’t have 951a made in wax…
I know I am getting the cushion-shaped halo, but any thoughts on whether the center should be round vs. cushion? It’s eng188 vs eng184 on moissaniteco.

Have you considered your wedding band, as the first comment mentioned? That’s the biggest difference between the rings, to me. The first one will allow a straight band to sit flush. The second ring has a donut at the bottom of the basket, so there will be a gap between your rings. You’d have to get a curved wedding band, if you don’t want a gap.
As far as the stone goes, keep in mind that cushions look smaller than a round of the same carat weight. But I think the cushion looks nicer in a cushion halo.
I prefer the second ring. But I’m biased, as I have a cushion diamond in a cushion halo, with a basket designed to create a gap. I love a gap between rings.
Either way, you can’t go wrong. They are both gorgeous. 🙂

I really like the second one.

@AliBeeG: Definitely the second one. The prongs for the side stones on the first one look like a serated knife to me. Ya know what I mean? It looks like it will inflict some serious damage on your fingers!

@sanvean do you have a photo to share? I’m curious how the gap looks 🙂 thanks!!

Can you post picturea of the ring you decided on? I’ve been dying to see the Eng 184 on a hand since I’ve bern drooling over it the past couple of weeks!

I went with Eng184 🙂 And I adore it. 1.1 carat cushion cut. Forever briliant moissy. I have all kinds of pics, so let me know if you want other angles or anything. I get SO many compliments. People love this ring. 🙂
