Hey ladies!  Long time reader, first time poster :)  Just wondering if any of you lovelies could help me out with a few timeframe questions.  Our wedding is not until May, 2010...and usually I'm a major procrastinator, but our wedding has turned me into a planner for the first time in my life (not a bad thing!).  We have a few vendors booked, but there are definitely a few things I'm gonna hold off on.  How far in advance do I need to order my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses?  I want to have enough time so that I don't have to sweat it while I'm waiting for the orders to come in...BUT, I'm really trying to get into shape, so I want to hold off as long as I can before I order a particular size. Also, how far in advance do I need to send out the STD's and the invites?  I would appreciate any help you could give me....thanks a lot ladies!!

There's some info and links to blog posts about planning timelines here!

A lot of your questions are dependent on a lot of factors.  What designer are you using for your wedding gown/BM dresses? Different designers ship in different amounts of time.  Are you having a destination wedding, or are you getting married in  your hometown with mostly local guests? Aside from the wiki, I really found the Wedding Book by Mindy Weiss to be an EXTREMELY valuable resource as far as timeline and etiquette rules were concerned.  Happy planning!

That's funny....I just received Mindy Weiss' book as a present a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to check it out!  Thanks for the responses!!

I think too, you can do things as early as you'd like.  I'm a September 2010 bride, and I'm already working on my dress and bridesmaid dresses.  I'd prefer to have things done early with no stress rather than later with tons of stress.
