I finally decided that I will have a timeline for my boyfriend to propose. Of course, this timeline will not be a surprise to him and it will be reasonable.
We have been dating for 1 and half years. Both of us are 34 years old and we have full time jobs. He will be done with law school by Summer 2011 and I will finish with my graduate programs also by Summer 2011.
My deadline is set for December 31, 2011. By then both of us will be done with all our schooling and we already have Full Time Jobs. I do not require an expensive engagement ring and he already knows that.
BY THEN WE WILL BE DATING FOR 2 AND 1/2 YEARS.
I think it is reasonable. Let me know if this is unreasonable.

Not unreasonable at all. Of course, this is coming from another ‘waiting’ gal, so I think our opinions are a little biased, lol. And I doubt many other of the bees will disagree too much. Men might disagree that it’s unreasonable, but they’re men 🙂
There was a recent post regarding ‘waiting’ from a man’s perspective. Well, a couple actually, but click here and see what you think. I can’t find the other one, but it had a link to an article about men’s point of view regarding knowing when ‘she’s the one’. Basically, the gist of it was that if after 3 years, a couple knows if they are each other’s forever, and that it’s time to put up or shut up. Granted, there can be extenuating circumstances for everyone where that timeframe is unreasonable, but you get the point.

I think it would be unreasonable if you DIDN’T demand an answer by then.
