- Wedding: October 2018
I’ve been stalking these boards for a while and this is my first post! Yay!
My FH and I are planning a wedding for October 23. Time is of the essence (just found out he deploys Nov 4) so I’m freaking out. We found an adorable historic chapel for the ceremony, the reception site is in the modern church next door. $ is tight but I really want our reception to be more than cake and punch. We’ve considered potluck, but juggling the food to the reception site and the guests to the chapel (parking is at the modern church) would be a hassle.
I thought maybe we could do seasonal desserts along with the cake (cupcakes, rather), as a dessert buffet? Pumpkin and apple pies, apple crumble, peach tarts, etc. We could bake those up ahead of time and take them over earlier in the day. I’m thinking 6PM for the ceremony, giving guests time to get off work, eat dinner, and change. We’re taking pics beforehand so we’ll have plenty of light for that, and I could put “dessert reception immediately following” on the invites so guests know to eat dinner first. Sunset is 6:30-ish, giving our reception a cozy, “cake and coffee” apres dinner feel.
3:00PM arrive @ reception site w/ dessert, set up (decorate the night before)
4:00PM dress @ ceremony site, pictures w/ full wedding party (finish by 5:30)
6:00 ceremony (around 30 min)
7:00 bride&groom’s entrance @ reception, reception begins
Over by 9-ish, stay in local hotel for wedding night, leave for mini-moon Saturday.
Thoughts? Have I missed anything? Does the timeline sound feasible? We’ve been moving towards a wedding for so long I have this “it’s never gonna happen” feeling. 🙁 I’ve never been to a Friday wedding before, so this is new territory!
