We are having our ceremony outside at our venue with our reception to follow inside. We have no idea what time to start our wedding at though! Our pictures are going to be after the ceremony/before reception (we aren't seeing each other till i come down the isle). we aren't having a cocktail hour though, just a buffet dinner. What time should we put our ceremony time as? should we put reception to follow? Or should we put our reception at a time, allowing us to get pictures between?

I don't really have an answer for you, but I'd love to hear answers from others because we're having timing issues also!

We're thinking of doing our ceremony at 5:30pm, with dinner served at the reception (2 miles away) at 6:30pm.  Our pastor said the ceremony will only be 20 minutes and we're doing most all photos before hand.  We're not doing a cocktail hour either, so I'm worried about timing.

The coordinator at your venue may be able to help you by letting you know what previous couples have done.  In my experience, most weddings that involve dinner usually have the ceremony at 3 or 4 with the reception immediately following.  However, without the cocktail hour, you might want to start a bit later so that dinner starts being served around 6pm.

Are your ceremony & reception in the same place?  Are you doing all your photos after the ceremony, or just the ones with both of you (with the bridal party and groomsmen photos being taken separately beforehand)?

If you go to weather.com, they have a wedding day weather planner that tells you when civil twilight begins (sun goes down) and when darkness begins.  That will help you plan.  You might want to check your venue also for how the setting sun hits the area of your ceremony.

Our ceremony will only be like 20 minutes (short, sweet, to the point!) temperatures around that time average at high of 69 low of 37 and sunset says 7:45 for that day. We also have to be done at midnight
