I have the same problem, so I sympathize ! If we already owned our house, our backyard would be the answer to all our questions and issues. But we rent an apartment, and this prevents us from having a simple backyard wedding or having a casual marriage celebration with friends. Maybe you can turn this into a casual picnic at a park somewhere with a potluck, or if you consider this isn’t proper manners, just bring a few baskets of sandwiches, fruits and veggies as a very budget-friendly afternoon snack. If you’re more into dancing and clubbing, then you can find a pub where your friends can join you to party the night away. Just think about what you like and how you can turn this into a casual, wallet-friendly occasion to celebrate with your friends.

Its totally possible. We are having a sunrise ceremony in a national park and then the reception in my parents backyard.

Here is my post with the breakdown for our 1500 dollar budget.
