Tomorrow I am getting my makeup done for our engagement pictures. The make-up artist works out of her home. Does anyone know if I should tip her in addition to paying her her regular fee? Since it isn’t in a salon & I am giving the money directly to her, I wasn’t sure how it works.

Typically if she is self employed, no. But if you loved what she did, a little incentive to "keep doing good" never hurts. I tipped my lady $10 and bought $80 worth of stuff from her.

I do hair out of my home and most people never really tip me considering I get all of what I charge.

I have heard before that you do not tip the owner of a business. I have heard it is poor ettiquette since it is a message that you pity their wages so you give a supplement.
The lady who cuts my hair is the owner of a single person salon and refuses to take a tip from our family or anyone else who has gone there. We have learned after going there for nearly 20 years that we don’t even try.
