As my wedding is quickly approaching, I have a few questions about which vendors we’re supposed to tip.
Coordinator:She owns her own company.
DJ: is the owner of the company
Photobooth operator: ?
Photographer and her assistant: photographer owns her own company, tip only the assistant?
String quartet: ?
Bartenders and Servers: we have already paid a 22% service charge, it’s it necessary to tip on top of this?
Please help! Who do I tip and how much?

@Miss_Narrows: Bumping. Curious as well. (Although if it were up to me I wouldn’t tip at all… all vendors are expensive enough AND we’re providing dinner for them. Sheesh. lol)

I think maybe the Dj but thats about it

@Miss_Narrows: My general rule of thumb is to not tip anyone who is the owner of their company. It’s actually seen as insulting (basically a “We know you don’t make that much on your own, here is a little extra” message).
Honestly, I haven’t heard of tipping vendors (with the exception of bartenders and maybe catering staff) until I came to this site. I would figure that fee you pay them would be large enough to not have to include tipping as well… :/
I hope This Time Around chimes in. She always has good etiquette advice.

@MrsNewDay: That is the impression that I was under, that owners are not to be tipped. I wasn’t sure about the quartet, or if wait staff were to be tipped on top of the service charge?

You are not obligated to tip any of them.
