I’m American but haven’t lived in the US for a while – and live in a country where tipping is not the norm (basically, people do not tip here).
Fiance and I are getting married in NYC where I’m from. There is already a 20% administrative charge at my venue – according to the venue the charge is NOT a gratuity but they “strongly encourage” giving one.
Not realising this, we signed the contract! Darn fine print ugh
So, how much should we be tipping? And, well – should we be tipping at all?
I’m going to feel my blood boiling if we end up spending 50% just on taxes and service charges on top of the per person meal!
