Not sure what to do about tipping my makeup artist.  I'm getting married in Florida, but I live in New York and I love my makeup artist up here so I'm having her do my wedding.  I am paying for her to fly down, plus her hotel and her fee. Do you think I should tip on top of that as well?  All of her fee is going directly to her, so I'm not sure what would be expected. Any thoughts are appreciated!

    Thanks!

I think that is your call.  If she is a friend or someone you go to alot, it might be a nice guesture, however not required especially since she is getting all the money and not having to give a portion to a salon or agency etc...

I think she also realizes that you are already paying a lot just to bring her with you, so she would probably understand if you didn't have enough money for a tip.

If your makeup artist is self-employed (i.e. doesn't have to pay rent to a salon), then you don't have to tip her.  That's generally the rule of thumb for all vendors.  Maybe as a nice gesture, you can buy her lunch while she's in Florida or something, but I don't think she's expecting anything other than what you're already paying for.

I think you are paying an awful lot as it is... her fee is straight in her pocket. Unless you have a ton of money for tipping I would say its not necessary.

Thanks ladies! I was leaning towards not tipping as well but wanted to make sure people didn't think it was super rude.  She is also making a vacation out of the trip (and staying for a few extra days), so I think that her fee should suffice.
