It really varies - if he's not charging you anything, I think $100-$150 is appropriate, or a nice card and gift.
I've read that for some places, there's an expected donation of $200-300. If your officiant is affiliated with a religious organization, ask them what is customary. If you're using a rent-a-reverend or a civil official, \I'd check with other people who live nearby. I'm guessing it ranges widely from Indiana to DC...

How much do I give to the officiant? I guess it wouldn't really be a tip as he is not charging us anything, but isn't it customary to give them something? What is the norm or going rate? My FI thinks $100, I was thinking maybe $50. ideas?
