@Lepidoptera:  Lots of pictures and a good description with lots of keywords! People don’t want to have to look through 100s of ads trying to find YOUR listing. This is especially true if you plan on using ebay or craigslist. Just how many times do you want to click on “wedding dress” when instead the title should be, for example “Allure 2455 size 4 ivory lace with keyhole back” then in the description you include things such as alterations, contact information, shipping information, payment information, etc.

Oh, and get rid of your listing after it is sold! Even if you listed it on 17 different sites…

I love seeing lots of pictures and a lot of descriptions. Also, if your dress originally cost $1000, I am not interested if you sell it for $800 instead.  At that point, I would rather buy it brand new. Be realistic. I would consider it only at 50% of the price or less which is more than what you’ll get back at most consignment shops.

I’m not sure I agree with nelya8503 on the pricing, though. Obviously one would love to get the dress as cheap as possible, but a 20% savings is still worthwhile to me, espcially since I also will not have to wait for it to be made (this can be invaluable in the case of a short engagement, such as mine). However, if alterations will need to be reversed or done, people are not going to want to pay as much since they will also need to pay a seamstress (although they are still getting a great deal over new, especially with not having to pay sales tax).
