- Wedding: October 2013
I’ve seen posts on here about women wanting to loose a little weight before their wedding so I thought I would share my success story.
Back about 4 years ago I was 211 pounds. I’m 5’9 and that was pretty big for me.
Well I was sick and tired of hearing (my now ex) tell me how large I was, and knew I would be leaving him and wanted to feel attractive again. He beat down my self esteem until there was nothing left. So I decided to change my life and I did.
What I did wasn’t a gimic or anything, I went to a nutritionist and I cut down to 1,500 calories a day. But it wasn’t just cutting calories. I also split my meals to 5 meals a day. I would eat at the exact same time every day as well. 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. A typical day would be
7am:Yogurt and banana
10am: Small handful of peanuts with a sandwhich or something similar
1pm: Sandwhich soup or something for lunch with a small side
4pm: small salad with baked chicken and a veggie side
7pm: 100 calorie pack of some sort of desert
So I would satisfy all of my cravings, salty, fruity, sweet, I got it all but got the nutrients as well. I also cut out soda and would run on the elliptical for 15-30 minutes per day, that’s it. Put in some music and run until my legs were jell-o and I was done. Eating every 3 hours also helped curb the hunger as I knew I would be eating shortly after the meal so I could stick it out a few hours.
I also didn’t cut out junk food completely. I would allow myself once a week on Saturdays to pick any meal I wanted for one meal, no matter what it was I could eat anything and sometimes I would sit down and eat an entire large pizza from papa johns with half an angel food cake for desert. Allowing myself the unhealthy food once a week made it easy to stick to my diet, because I knew it wasn’t cut out for a long time, just for a little bit.
So not even 7 months later and…
I lost 87 pounds. It was hard at times, but it wasn’t hard to where I wouldn’t do it again if I needed to. It’s been 3 years and I have kept all of the weight off. I feel so much better, so much healthier and my breathing is normal, and I don’t breathe really heavy any more.
I just wanted to give some ideas to anyone who was looking for a real way to loose weight, without all the gimmics, it works and it’s worth it. I am so incredibly happy that I did that and went through that for the outcome, it was so much easier than I ever could have imagined!
