Weddingbee boards

We are leaving to get MARRIED in 23 days!!!! YAY!! We will be getting back on Christmas Eve (his birthday)....our first Christmas as husband and wife and the end to this LDR....I can't wait

RB...now if only I can get him to share some of these darn wedding plans. Being in the dark about everything is NOT so fabulous. This is the only the second time in our relationship that he has managed to keep a secret from me...gosh darn it.

RB..he sure did...the only things I have picked out have been my ensemble for the day, his ring, and his wedding present (some hand monogrammed cufflinks).

I think I posted the story as a response to another thread but it may be worthy of a thread of it's own...LOL

So....I planned our first wedding all on my little lonesome. We were supposed to get married in Charleston, SC (his city) on November of last year. He had been diagnosed with cancer in November of 2006..our first year of dating...and after 3 rounds of chemo, was declared cancer free...but he still has to have regular screenings....but I digress. So In October of last year he went in for his regular screening with his oncologist and lo and behold...the cancer was back. His oncologist and gastro. Drs both recommended surgery to have a portion of his stomach removed. Sooooo....we cancelled the wedding and all of my hard work was for naught. So surgery was scheduled for Feb of this year and the day before surgery he went in for his pre-op and ALL of the tests (blood, the sample taken from his stomach, the camera footage from his endoscopy) tested NEGATIVE for cancer!! Somehow his cancer DISAPPEARED and no surgery was needed! So...I was off the wedding kick by this point so I said nothing about starting up planning again or anything.

FI kept telling me to save as much of my vacation as I could for the end of the year and I did...thinking we were taking a much-needed vacation. Something his friend said to me clue-ed me in that it was more...so around September of this year I asked him flat out if he was planning a wedding for us in December and if so...I wanted to pick my own ensemble. So at that point he gave me the date and the location...Jamaica...not the name of the actual resort b/c he knows I would have been calling/googling....LOL.

He said that it was early on in our relationship....almost 2 months when he was diagnosed with cancer and I never even considered leaving him when nobody would have blamed me if I did. He told me that it meant a lot that I was so supportive so he wanted to do this for me...and wanted me to let him. So...I try and bite my tongue b/c I know it means a lot to him that all of the details will be a surprise. I must admit though IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS NOT KNOWING!!

I am so thankful that he is still here with me and doing well. Our relationship is stronger than ever, our kids are doing well...and we have this FABULOUS day ahead of us!! But I still wish I knew the colors...the name of the resort...something...LOL
