Good question. I've been thinking about making them for my outside ceremony. The ones I've seen online look pretty. Maybe it depends on the color...
My entire reception is going to be decorated with my tissue poms. Literally.
I have made 4 large white ones, 14 medium yellow and 6 smaller orange/tangerine. I am going to hang most of them from the ceiling and then a few on some light fixtures along a wall. I also had to decorate a big mantle so I drilled holes into a long piece of wood and stuck 5 poms on sticks. I'm going to try and get a photo up for you. I'm also having a cookie buffet and I'm going to stick single tissue "flowers" in and around the display.
I've been making these things for the past 7 months. I seriously feel like the queen of tissue poms.
I LOVE them.. I think they're so cute and pretty.. I started using them for my baby shower 2 yrs ago and now make them ALL the time.. I don't think they're tacky at all and they can really make a great impact if you use a lot of them. Super easy to make, and there's something about fluffing them up that makes me happy..I'm going to have them all over at our wedding..
I'm thinking about maybe hanging some over the cake tables or over the gifts table...not sure though! I can decorate a flat surface, like a table, but decorating open space is a different story!

Has anyone hung tissue poms at their reception or been to a reception with them? What are your thoughts? Are they tacky? Cool? I'm thinking about suspending them strategically over the tables. Our reception venue is a large open building with white walls and I want to give it a pop of color.
