I sent cards to the people that sent them to me last year.  If someone sent one to me this year that didn’t send one to me last year, I will just add them to the list for next year.

All of my cards were handmade this year, so I only wanted to spend the time on making them for people who would spend the time sending me one in return.  I know that sounds bad, and isn’t the purpose, but still…

I’ve never sent one after the fact but I have sent a thank you card for one then added that person to my list. They are usually professional contacts that I’ve forgotten though.

@AB Bride:  Usually I send out cards to a large number of people and keep a couple on hand in case I get cards from someone I didn’t send one to. That being said not many people these days actually send out cards so if I really did tit-for-tat I would save myself a whole lot of trouble!

What I have found is that now that I am married I have been added to certain family members lists.  I find this odd since I have been living on my since I was in my early twenties and never received a card….. I guess married=relevant in my family…..

a@AB Bride:  I used to be pretty good about sending Christmas cards every year and included one of my parents long time friends on my list.  I ALWAYS and ONLY received a card from her after I sent mine.  So I stopped sending her one and sure enough, never got another one from her again.

Yeah.

Oh my I had no idea what a big deal Christmas cards were until I started dating my British husband.  We rarely do cards in my laidback, Californian cultured family so I’m making it a point to send out cards now that I have everyone’s addresses post-wedding invite sending.

We also made it on some lists now that we’re married and we made our own photo card this year which I think is fun since we can save and scrapbook them into a book of the years of our marriage – year after year growing with each other and family… doesn’t it sound like a nice idea?! hah

I don’t send cards, but I got one from my bridesmaid this year so I had to go but one and send it to her. She didn’t get it until yesterday actually, so the mail was super slow because I mailed that almost 3 weeks ago. So I blamed the delay on the mail, which was true… but if I thought it was awkwardly late because of me I’d still probably blame the mail!

@AB Bride:  This was the first year FI and I did Christmas cards and we also bought our first home. We didn’t get hardly any cards before ours went out, after cards started pouring in. I didn’t mind, I actually felt like they appreciated recieving our card.

@AB Bride:  I don’t send Christmas cards (my name gets put on my family’s lol), but my aunt was telling me about one she sent out this year because she “had to”: my aunt who married into the family is basically making my uncle’s life a living hell, and generally being a terrible person…like, trying to cut him off from his family. So, she sent out Christmas cards. My aunt (my mom’s sister) told me she is sending her one  back so there is no escalation…but she wasn’t going to use one of the “nice cards.” She had a card that said “Ho Ho Ho” on the front…and decided to use it. She said it doubles as a Christmas card and also what she thinks my aunt is haha. It was pretty fantastic!

so that didn’t really answer your question…but I thought it was a funny story lol

We received the most pitiful number of cards this year.  I was really disappointed because it wasn’t even enough to display. In other years I have received 20+ but this year we only received 6.  Hopefully next year people will get back into sending them or the people we sent to this year will send to us next year.
