My husband and I are NOT trying to get pregnant right now but both agree if it happens we will be more than happy. We got married recently and decided to go the natural family planning route.
I’ve been so wrapped up in school and wedding planning I didn’t read the taking charge of your fertility book (I bought it just didn’t get around to reading it) and was using fertility friend online to track my menstrual cycle. I input the first day of every period from December and it said my ovulation date was 4 days before the wedding so I should have been clear on the wedding day.
What I didn’t know until last week was that I was supposed to be tracking the discharge and body temp as well. And if my memory serves me right either the day before, day of, or day after the discharge was (as the book described it, I am reading it now) a sign of ovulation. I may be wrong but as my memory serves me, it seems that way. Not to mention it hurt while having sex on the wedding night from my cervix getting hit and from what I read (if I’m understanding correctly) the cervix gets closer during ovulation. I may be reading too much into this but…
This past few days, every other night it seems I’ve been getting super nauseated. I get soft stool (which never happens) and have had to use the bathroom (number two) 2-3 times which my regular is every 3 days needing to go number two. I’ve also vomited right after using the bathroom number two from the extreme nausea.
So I’ve got all my pre menstrual symptoms, super sore nipples, a couple days of cramping a couple days ago, acne (pretty bad this time around) but the one thing I haven’t gotten yet is my period. It’s due today. And it says typically it’s 14 days after the first day of your period when you are ovulating and we had sex the first time 15 days after my first day of my last period.
I’m due for my period today and didn’t even realize it, I thought it was the 5th and haven’t experienced many of the premenstrual symptoms. But I have had some. And instead of blood I have this super clear water type discharge that’s kind of a lot.
So after all this Too Much Information going on, I’m just freaked out. I’m not worried about having a child, I know we will be great parents and already are, what I’m worried about is telling his parents. We talked about it last night and he says they wont be upset and would be happy but on our wedding day his mom was saying “Now no babies for another 3 years” and I laughed and said “More like 3-5 years” which is when we plan to try.
When should I test, what’s up with the water discharge and any advice on telling the inlaws if it comes to that?

Depending on how many days your cycle actually lasts, yes, you could O the 14th of every cycle, but if you have long cycles, then your O time could happen anytime after the 14th. Remember it only takes to do it ONCE during your FW to get pregnant. In some cases that’s how it happens. If you are that LUCKY!
Your symptoms sound promising, so you could be pregnant. I would say, buy a FRER and see what happens. GL and best wishes.
Also, if you are tempting, have you taking your temp, like lets say today? If its higher than usual for your first day of AF then you might be pregnant.

@MrsR4ever: Thank you for your response!
My typical cycle is 26 days but ranges from 24-27. Today is day 26 I was supposed to start.
My last cycle started on April 5th, our first day of unprotected sex was April 20th then pretty much every day since.
I haven’t started the basal temp yet and didn’t know about it until last week. Since I’d assumed I would get my period (and I still may) I decided to start taking it on the first day of my cycle (which would have been today) so I don’t have much to compare it to. I know typically my temp is 97.9 so maybe I will check anyways, but a slight change may mean nothing.I really should have read the book lol.
I will go get a first response and if I start tomorrow I’ll have it on hand for my next freak out lol.
I have one child so I’ve been through the pregnancy thing already and with her I was tired ALL the time, but here lately I’ve been tired for the last few months all the time and take naps almost every day so that hasn’t really changed much. I don’t remember anything concerning discharge but that was over 5 years ago. But I learned with my daughter that it does only take one time, literally. I was married to her father and we were both miserable and had one night where I got drunk and gave in. Few weeks later I found out I was pregnant. Still to this day he questions if he is her father because it was only one time. But even in a miserable relationship I don’t put out like that.
So when my husband gets back I’ll get him to take me to walgreens and pick up a first response. I’m thinking maybe I should take it in the morning, my last pregnancy my HCG levels didn’t increase like they were supposed to in the first 9 months so it may be negative if it’s not the morning urine if it’s the same as the last pregnancy?

If your period is due tomorrow, take a test today. Do a 4 hour hold (where you don’t drink much and you don’t pee) and then use a FRER. If you get a negative, there is still a slight chance that it could be a false negative but if it’s positive, then it’s definitely positive.
ETA: The 4 hour hold simulates FMU. I would get a multipack of FRERs (the 3 pack is good) and test today and tomorrow and save one if you still don’t get your period.

@AstoriaK: Thank you 🙂 My period is due today. At the latest (if it is a 27 day cycle) it would be due tomorrow but I’ve been averaging at 25-26 days these last few months with only one cycle being 27 days.
So 4 hour hold, do I avoid all water and food intake for this? I didn’t realize they came in a 3 pack but I’ll get one. FRER is first response right? Are they the digital ones?

@anon656987: Oh, if it’s today then it should be pretty accurate. For the 4 hour hold, you just limit drinking to make your urine more concentrated. I wouldn’t worry about eating food! The FRER is the First Response Early Result tests with the pink dye. You could do digital but they are more sensitive so most use that to confirm after they get a second line on the pink dye FRER (and because it sucks to see NOT PREGNANT).

@anon656987: You dont have to avoid food and yes they are digital ones too. GL
