@PixelMePretty:  I’m also pregnant (only 10 weeks) but had something similar BEFORE I got pregnant. It was a sharp pain in what felt like a muscle high up and on one side of my groin. I kept trying to stretch it or something but nothing helped. It hurt when I lifted my leg and I couldn’t run or do any core exercises like plank without it hurting. I ended up telling my chiropractor about it but I was embarrassed because I was kind of worried about it being something vaginal and maybe related to TTC. Anyways, he did Active Release Therapy on it (which was uncomfortable to say the least) and it totally helped and was 100% better within a few days. Not sure if this helps you, but maybe being 32 weeks pregnant is straining the same muscle as me??, or maybe it is something totally different. Either way, good luck and hope you get it figured out!

@PixelMePretty:  I’m only at 15 weeks, but last week I had something similar. Shooting pain in my vagina (weirdest thing). Anyway I looked into it at I found out it is called- Lightning Crotch. Which actually seemed super accurate if very graphic. Can either be baby hitting nerves connected to the cervix (more likely for you since you are further) or a variation of ‘stretching’ pain earlier in pregnancy. I mean a lot of women say it’s normal. But it feels very abnormal. I’ve had it twice and both times i was doing something physical beforehand. Once helping to build a headboard and then unloading our car from XMAS trip. Me plus light lifting equal shooting vag pain. Fun. oh oh also ONE comment on ONE article said having sex will help it. IDK. I mean little to lose there, but random articles on the internet usually are pro sex as the solution without much data.

I’ve had shooting pains that feel like they’re inside my vagina at random times (I’m 26 weeks) and I know that’s pretty normal (see PP).  I’m not sure if yours is more localized than that…?  Mine literally feels like it’s just up inside (not on the lips).  I have read that the outter parts can swell though, so I figure some pain wouldn’t be abnormal.  I wouldn’t worry about it unless it’s not going away, then maybe call your Dr.  I’d just ask at the next appointment.

@PixelMePretty:  I’ve heard of lightning crotch (thanks to the Bee!), but never the lip ache? I hope it goes away soon- sounds very uncomfortable:(

I’m pretty sure ALL of that crotch pain stuff is due to round ligament pain, and its probably just reverberating into your poor lippy. Hope it feels better soon!

@PixelMePretty:  My doctor was telling me that when your skin stretches that much, that occasionally the nerves stretch and become overly sensitive. Not sure if your vag/labia has doubled in size like mine has (sexy, right?), but I’m 34 weeks and have had similar nerve pain (just at the very top of my belly) instead of my labia.

@MsJ2theZ:  IDk. I’ve had round ligament pain and this lightning crotch and to me it feels very different. like an electric shock. The round ligament pains hurt and are sudden but it’s not so fast you can’t even point to it excatly.

@MsJ2theZ:  +1.  The round ligaments go from the side of your uterus, into your abdominal wall, and down into your labia, so the stretch can be felt at any point along the path.

@PixelMePretty:  I would talk to your doctor about it, but try heat packs on your belly (if you relax one part of the ligament, it may help the rest), try Tylenol, repositioning, etc.  When I had round ligament pain, I’d rub all around my uterus and it helped a little, but usually the pains would pass pretty quickly.  Good luck!

It’s totally normal. I asked my ob about it when I felt it around the same time, and her response was, “it feels like an electric shock, right? Only a woman who has been pregnant knows what that feels like.” The good thing is that I didn’t feel it very often… But damn, it sucks.

I had a varicose vein on my left labia…  hurt like a sonovabitch.  YOu might want to get a mirror down there and check out your labia to make sure it looks normal.
