So I have a cold sore (I know, ew) because I had dental work last week, and anything out of the ordinary like that usually results in one. I was hoping it would be healed by Valentine’s Day, and although it’s much better, and just a flat dot now, it’s still there.
So SO came over last night after work, and after gift exchanges, we started messing around but no kissing because of the cold sore. As we went to the bedroom, I told him we can pretend we’re Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, haha, no kissing on the mouth!
So we tried….and it was a fail. We started, I was on top, and that worked for a little but then my legs got extremely tired and I ended up wanting to flip over. We did, but then it just was not happening. We finally stopped and cuddled and laughed about it – said the no kissing thing is just too hard, and we can’t have “emotionless” sex haha, it feels too weird not being able to kiss each other.
Anyone else experience this? Who knew that kissing was such an important part of the equation?

I feel ya there. I get them, but usually it a reaction to my body fighting off an illness or stress. We don’t even try when I have them. It’s hard enough to break the habit of a morning kiss goodbye while I have them.

I understand completely. FH is an outstanding kisser, I can get excited and “ready to go” after just a few minutes of kissing. I would miss it! Do you take lysine for the cold sores? Good stuff.

I’m totally with you!! It’s kind of a funny story (sorry) lol. I always want to be spontaneous with the morning sex but since we wont kiss with that morning breath LOL we always end up getting up to brush our teeth so we can kiss and then it always makes things 1930942308x better hahaha. The times we havent kissed because of a cold sore or something like that, we always end up giving eachother tons of hickies hahaha. Better have some good Valentine’s Day make up sex when the cold sore is gone 🙂

@KT808: Yes I did take Lysine, especially in the beginning, but it didn’t really help much this time – still have the last remnants of the mark, it’s been 8 days :o(
@LibertyBelle: I hear ya about the habit – We had a “near-miss” but he swerved and kissed the other side of my mouth luckily! haha
@MissTX: It is kinda funny – we laughed about it! I’m sure we will – just to kiss freely again will be hot and heavy!

I totally undersand! It’s no fun without kissing! I get cold sores occasionally too. One time I went to my doctor about it because I had something like three in six months. So annoying! He prescribed an antiviral (valaciclovir) for it. Works like a charm. If I’m getting one I take a pill and it goes away quickly. No more embarrassing cold sores. They just end up looking like a teeny tiny blemish if they develop at all. In no time at all I’m back to smooching with my man! 🙂
