Ladies, this is definitely a TMI post -

I am afraid of having to go #2 while wearing my dress! I know it is gross but it concerns me!!! I know I can manage #1 (thanks to Mrs Cola's tutorial!!) but what about #2??? I think this may just be an irrational fear that I am having just because things are getting close - but can someone please identify with this!?! Or am I just nuts?

Honestly...I have the same fear :)

I think I will take a fiber suppliment the night before so that I "clean out" early the next morning.  Metimucil moves things along without any gross side effects.

@Rosiebear: good advice! Im very regular but you know sometimes depending on what you eat things happen! I asked a friend about this because her sister had recently gotten married and she said her sister was so involved with everything she didnt have time to even think about this!!

@clarebee:  I suppose it's OK to have bridesmaids hold up your dress for you, but when there's #2 there's more work involved LOL.  How big is your dress hun?!?!

Um I never even thought about this. I've made it through plenty of other weddings as a guest without this problem so why would my wedding day be any different?

Haha - I hadn't even thought about that!

My dress is huge and so I would need my girls in there with me LOL - I know we would just laugh it off so I am not worried but I totally understand where you are coming from!

But you will probably be on such an adrenaline high that it won't happen. Your body only goes into peristalsis (bowel contractions) when your body is relaxed and I am positive your body won't be relaxed on your day.

@Future Mrs. Martin: hahah I just got an amazing image of a bunch of girls lifting up a dress for that - that would be awful yet hilarious!!

Did anyone see Bethenny getting married where she had to pee in the bucket!? I dont think anything would be as bad as that!!

Clearly I am the only person in the world who has thought about this! My dress is not big at all but I would never have someone in there with me! I think that Future Mrs Martin is right that I will be on such an adrenaline rush I wont have to worry. Sorry if this grossed anyone out - I just figured if there is a place to vent anything and everything the bee would be the place to do it! I have talked to my friends about this and they laugh at me because well, it is hilarious!

Hey I worry about this - my bowels get hyperactive when I'm stressed. Srsly. Yuck and all as it is, I'll actually be taking an anti-diarrhoeal the morning of. If I don't, I'll be the one running to the toilet mid ceremony. Eeeek.

Oh!  I never thought of that!  It wasn't a problem, luckily.  And I'm sure it won't be for you.  I think you're just going through every single "what if" possible in your mind.  You could go mad thinking about all the things that could happen!  I bet ya most of them won't, including an emergency #2 situation.  If it does happen, you'll have to have a very close friend help you out of your dress.  And another one to make sure no one else comes into the bathroom.

me too.. When I get nervous I always have to go! And they put buttons on my dress so IDK how that's going to happen lol. Our reception venue has a private bathroom for the bride so I was planning to just hop out of the dress, hang it on the stall, and go all by myself then have BM's zip me back up. I guess you could just be careful what you eat the days before the wedding and have some strong coffee early the morning of the big day?

Ha!  Ok, I'm going to be honest...this happened to me!!

I'd spent the week before my wedding working on my wedding cake and all the last-minute hoopla and I don't think I'd "gone" for at least 2 days before my wedding because I was so stressed and running around.

On the day of my wedding I was placid and comfortable and ready to be married.  And then I got to the front of the church in my hiding place before the ceremony was to start and it hit me like a ton of bricks.  I'm not a community bathroom kind of person, so there was NO way I was filling my bridesmaids in on this need.  So all through my ceremony I was having serious cramps and was really uncomfortable.  As soon as we finished pictures and got to the reception I had my mother-in-law tie up the 30+ strings for my bustle, had my MOH lift my dress up over the potty, and made her leave and stand guard at the door.

For the record, my dress didn't suffer any damages from the experience, but I'll always remember how uncomfortable I was during my ceremony because the worst #2 of my life had horrible, horrible timing.

Looking back I just laugh at the whole situation!!!  It could've been a lot worse (the discomfort kept me from crying all my make-up off because that's all I could think about, so that's a plus, right?!).

I highly recommend doing what's comfortable for you--if that happens to you on your wedding day, don't stress it and just make sure that you deal with it in the best way you can.  And when you stand up, make sure you grab AS MUCH of your dress as possible!!!  I'm pretty sure this is the only way I managed to keep my dress out of the potty!

    Good luck!!  :)

HAHAHAHHAHA!  oh yes, this is something that didn't occur to me either until the day of.  And fortuneatly i only had to go once due to nerves before the ceremony, and also fortuneately my girlfriends and i have at least peed in front of each other on many occasions (we are group-bathroom-break sort of gals) so my BFF (and MOH#2) came in with me to help me hold my dress.  She is a SAINT for this!  that was acutally the last time I went all evening (#1 or #2), which is not normal for me!  I think it was all the excitement and fun of the event that made me just keep going, i never even felt the urge.  Very strange, but convenient.

@Future Mrs. Martin: question...if that is the case. then why do folks with extreme anxiety have stomach problems? I don't think that information is correct as stress is a key reason for stomach issues for some folks.

If I have to go #2 I just going to make my MOH (sister) go to the bathroom w/ me as pay back for being mean to me when I was little.  Its not the end of the world and I bet it will make for a good inside joke after the wedding.  Just drink a cup of coffee in the morning and get it all out!

Oh my... you are not the only one thinking about this clarebee! I have IBS and it really revs up when I stressed/nervous. Whenever I have to do something ridiculously important... take an exam, go on a job interview, etc... I spend the hour before and the hour after in the bathroom. Uggghhhh... Honestly, I am going to talk to my GI and see what he can give me! My aunt's GI prescribed her something that would.. uh, help with those issues (she has IBS too). She got sick the morning of and then it was smooth sailing for the rest of the day.

Wow, this is some serious TMI... sorry :)

@TinyTina: I knew this was a TMI thread but honestly for some people it is a concern!!! IBS must suck! :-( Im sure the doctor can help you out. Ive also heard of a list of foods to eat (or not eat) before your wedding that will help - I will try to find that!

lol I'm glad I'm not the only one with this concern, although I'm quite regular and usually go as soon as I wake up, unless I eat a lot of rich dairy products that make me go several times a day which I will try not to do.  I think if you know how your body works, and what will upset your stomach/make you go #2 irregularly, a few days ahead of time, just make sure you don't eat any of those things.

I had stomach issues the mornings of BOTH of my weddings (November in India and April in the U.S.) due to nerves and not eating properly the days before I think. Luckily, both "episodes" were in the morning after waking up and with pepto, immodium and eating a healthy breakfast I was good to go by salon time. I was so worried both times, but it worked out great! Try not to worry about something like that. The chances of that happening are slim. :)

oh man you girls are cracking me up :) I feel like taking off your dress is a viable option, depending on your dress. I'd rather have someone help me out of and into my dress again than have someone standing next to me! But then again I plan on peeing alone too. I'm not a group pee-er, although my MOH has offered her services should I need them haha.

My big fear is getting a UTI on the day of the wedding. I have only had 2 in my life but they were both SO horrible that I feel like I'm seriously scarred for life. I am now extremely careful about drinking enough water every day and I know that up and including my wedding day i'm going to be pounding serious water to keep everything healthy!

That's one of the reasons why I insisted on having my own hotel room the night before my wedding. I need privacy in order things to work properly. I know most brides don't want to be alone, but I am the total opposite. I also won't sleep at all if other people are in the room other than DH so that was a big concern as well.

good thing my twin sister is my MOH. She has seen me in every state possible. Hell we walk around naked in front of each other! I will be totally comfortable with her there haha! If it does happen she will probably laugh the whole time. Hell if we can share a womb together she can definitely see me go in front of her! LOL!

The thing I love MOST is that these TMI posts bring bees out of the woodwork. These gals are not afraid of posting anything! It's terrific.

    TMI WARNING! TMI WARNING!

I also worry about this. When I get nervous, I get what MR. 5642 calls "the nervous poops." I come by it honestly Mom5642 is the same way. I'm hoping that I'll be so jazzed about the wedding that I won't eat as much and there won't be much to worry about!

@clarebee: My sister and MOH were helping me and all of a sudden right after I wiped I felt pee. I was like, "AHH I can't pull up my underpants I peed on my hand! Help Help!" My sister pulled up my undies for me...very embarrasing!

@Jennifer5642: I was thinking that too! I posted TMI and then started getting SO many responses!!

Based on what others have said I imagine IF it happens (and I hope it doesnt!) I will probably have MOH and 1 other BM come into the bathroom and help me take off my dress (my dress is really not big, simple A line but it has some layers to it so its easier with another person's help) and then I will have 2nd bridesmaid stand at the door. The bathroom at our venue is ridiculously nice so this wouldnt really be too awful.

Hey I guess if it happens it happens!

I imagine most people are too nervous or busy to eat so it probably doesn't happen much. Although when I get really nervous I always need to pee so hopefully I don't get any butterflies right before the ceremony. :)

@MissAsB: I wouldn't count on it. Depends on the bowel!! Haha, maybe I'm a freak.

Any kind of stress sets me off. Put it this way, I have no idea what it's like to be constipated. The evening my mother died, I must have made 7 or so trips to the bathroom. Weird, huh. I know the wedding entails very different stress, but I'm taking no chances! And I'm with Clarebee on the simple dress, should help matters!

God it's amazing the things we will happily tell total strangers hahaha!!

I just had the horrible thought of going #2 AND being "that time of the month" at the same time... which is what I could potentially be facing. I'll be rearranging my Pill schedule for sure.

And if #2 happens, I'll drag my MOH (sister) in the bathroom with me. Hey, when we were kids, we used to use the bathroom as our "conference room" anyway, so it's not like she's never seen me poop before. lol
