A recent thread that got a little sidetracked talking about super tampons got me wondering – how heavy/long is your period? I know everyone is different and I guess I’ve always been curious of others’ experiences and how average my period experience ranks.
so I guess I’ll start:
day 1 = cramps (worse now that I’m off the pill ugh!) and regular flow
day 2, day 3 morning = regular flow
day 3 evening – day 5 = really light; just a liner needed

Dang, no one wants to spill?

I start spotting for a freaking week. D: then, when my actual period arrives is like this:
Day 1: SUPER MEGA HEAVY flow, i dont get cramps, but i feel so uncomfortable that i just wanna curl up and die. I use at least 2 super heavy flow tampons.
Day 2: Mega heavy flow, i start feeling better.
Day 3-4: normal
Day 5-7: spotting

Before I went on birth control and decided to stop my periods altogether:
Day 1: Light Spotting (panty liner, no tampon)
Day 2-3: Light Flow (2 tampons/day, none needed at night)
Day 4-5: Light, dark spotting (period underwear, no panty liner needed)
Now that I’ve been on birth control and skipping my period pills, occasionally I’ll spot for about a week every six months or so (if I miss a pill).
I feel so lucky that I’ve never had terrible periods!!!

Mine have been all over the place. To go back to where this originated though, even on my heavy days I still used slim tampons, I just would use the super absorbancy, usually along with a pad or liner.

Day 1 – starts with cramps and digestive issues. Then period starts and for first 6 hours I’m sooo sick with nausea, cramps, diarrhea and medium flow. Will use 3 Super Tampons plus liners. Will usually have super bad cramps that keep me up all night.
Day 2 – heaviest flow day. will use 4+ Super tampons plus liners. Cramps and digestive issues still present but not as intense
Day 3 – 1-2 regular tampons suffice and stomach will be settled
Day 4 – light bleeding and only need a liner. But worst of all is the MIGRAINE!!!! 4 out of 5 periods this Monster rears her ugly head and has the potential to lay me out for up to 2 days. Yes I have prescriptions for it still totally puts me out of commission.
Day 5 – last day.. Just need a liner for anything still being cleaned out.
So as episodic as these are I have been charting them for 6 months now and as it turns out, my O’s and my menses are super regular. It’s pretty cool – so no I am not TTC, and no, I am not on BC (for medical reasons. It’s pretty neat what you learn about your body when you start charting 🙂

day 1/2 Heavy
day 3 moderate – touch & go
day 4-6 light but still wear a liner because there’ll be sporadic spotting

@Pink Asawa: don’t have one! The new BCP I’m on is LoLoestrin FE and I entirely skip my period now. My friend has been on the same pill and she hasn’t had a period in 2 years. My sister also uses it and doesn’t get her period either. It’s wonderful!

day 1 and 2 are crazy for me where I’ll bleed through super tampons in <3hrs and then by day 3 it gets much better. Day 4 and on is very light

I love my Mirena IUD : )
Day 1: nothing
Day 2: nothing
Day 3: nothing
Day 365: nothing
Nothing at all after the first two months adjusting to Mirena; girlfriends will ask me for a tampon, and I never have any. WOOT.
Before that, probably about 5 days. Heaviest on the 2nd day. I had 8 day periods as a teenager. Those sucked.

@Dialysate: Is that healthy?

I go through a super tampon and pad every hour the first three day of my period, even on bc. It sucks but its always been like that. I skip day 4 then two more heavy days. It’s kinda weird how there’s one day I don’t bleed at all and the other five are insanely heavy. I’ve thought about asking my doctor about it

@Chrysoberyl: Check with your doctor if you’re interested. I go for about 6 months. I was told if I get breakthrough bleeding to get a withdrawal bleed earlier. It took a while to work up to 6 months, but now when I do they are super light.

@AB Bride: I would love to never have to deal with that again to be honest!

@Chrysoberyl: It’s awesome! I used to go every other pack anyway most of the time before I talked to my doctor. It just started off with me avoiding getting one at certain times, like dance competitions because of the outfits and how horrible I would feel and it progressed from there.
