I purchased my wedding dress yesterday and I just wanted to share my experience with some of the bridal shops.
Rebecca’s Wedding Boutique
3 out of 5 stars
The overall atmosphere of the shop is nice but a little cramped. They have a wide variety of designers that start as low as $500 and as high as $5000. They have a very lovely selection of dresses for every kind of bride and an adequate selection of bridesmaids dresses as well. The biggest downfall to this place is the owner. She is very pushy and often acts like she’s too good for your business. I’ve been in here a number of times for myself as a bride and bridesmaid. Every time I’ve been in this shop and the owner has been there it turns into a disastrous experience.
I very cautious suggest looking at this place for two reasons, the selection and a consultant by the name of Megan. She is quite possibily one of the most friendly consultants I’ve ever worked with. She offers suggestions and recommendations without being pushy. Criticisms without being rude and alternatives if a certain dress isn’t in your budget or you’re just not sure it’s the one. If you can secure Megan as your consultant and avoid the owner you should have a good experience.

This place offers a HUGE selection of gowns in almost every price range imaginable but expect the praise to stop there. The staff is mostly rude and despite the fact many of the employees have been there for years they don’t seem to know much about bridal gowns or weddings in general. I went once to try on a dress as they happened to be the only shop to carry it. I went another time to get bridesmaids dresses for another wedding because they were the only one to carry that designer who carried the particular color the bride wanted us to wear. The only significant positive was an employee named Brandy who gave us a hefty discount on bridesmaids dresses because we had not been helped out despite having an appointment and waiting for quite some time.
Overall I do not recommend this place.
Bridal Suite of Louisville
5 out of 5 stars
This place is great. It’s very quiant but spacious. They don’t have an large selection of gowns and their bridesmaids selection is even smaller but what they do carry is beautiful and affordable. They pride themselves on carry beautiful, designer quality gowns for every bride. Some notable designers are Justin Alexander, Essence of Australia, and Blue by Enzoani. I had a 5pm appointment but we were running late because of a wreck. I called and they were so friendly and accomadating. When I arrived they didn’t make a big deal that I ended up being late and didn’t rush me in order to make up for the loss in time. At the time it was just me and one other bride. Although we each had our individual consultants the entire staff was attentive to us. The offered suggestions, gave positive criticisms, and overall made me feel like I was the only bride in the world. They were considerate about my body image issues and positive about my weight loss.
I found a dress I loved that was marked $100 over the max amount I wanted to spend on a dress. I was willing to pay that extra amount because I loved the dress by the manager came up and told me that the dress was actually being sold as is in their sample sale but hadn’t been marked yet. She could have just let me pay the large sum of money because I would never known about the sale instead she came forward and acknowledged the sale and gave me an 85% discount which was incredible.
I loved this place and I really can’t recommend it enough.

I actually just bought my dress from Rebecca’s, and my sister bought hers there as well. I did not run into the owner (I don’t think) BUT we both had Megan as our consultant, and she was absolutely fabulous! She helped me pick the PERFECT dress while staying in my budget (I was very impressed with the selection within my budget), and she wasn’t pushy about buying accessories. She picked an assortment of accessories to try on with my dress to help me find the style I wanted, and when I mentioned how I saw something similar on Etsy, she raved about the prices there (and encouraged me to get my sash somewhere else shh!) She was very conscious of my budget; she pulled a dress that was $100 over my price range, but before she even showed it to me, she asked if I would be ok with that, or if she should pull something else. That dress ended up being one of my top picks, she definitely has an eye for what each bride is looking for! I highly recommend Rebecca’s (and Megan) for local brides!
If I hadn’t found my dress at Rebecca’s, the Bridal Suite was going to be my next stop, I’ve heard great things from there!

Rebecca’s was my first stop. I heard great reviews from it and honestly I would have given it a better rating if it weren’t for the owner. I’m willing to let people slide and give second chances because I understand she runs a business, I imagine she is often stressed but between helping my friend shop for her gown, shopping for my gown and and shopping for bridesmaids dresses on 4 different occasions I have determined that she just isn’t a nice person which baffles me because she works in a business were she deals with a variety of people everyday. She’s just very pushy and becomes very offended if you even mention purchasing things(bm dresses, jewelry, etc.) elsewhere.
But with all that said they do have a nice selection and Megan is an absolute gem. She suggested this cute little store down the street from Rebecca’s when I mentioned I wanted colorful shoes.

No problem! I’ll post more as we mark things off the list. I like being able to hear first hand accounts of vendors. I think it’s helped me make a lot of decisions and narrow down choices.
I’m hoping it will make planning just a little easier for other people.
We are visiting venues next week so I’ll probably post something about the places we visit soon.

I actually bought a dress from both Bridal Suite and Rebecca’s (my reception dress from the former, my wedding dress from the latter). I really had wonderful experiences at both. As a Louisvillian, I firmly felt that leaving the area wasn’t an option. In my experience, I met the owners of Rebecca’s many times during my trips there and had no problems.
I am just glad we have so many options, and that we can ultimately find the best place to find the perfect dress. I do highly recommend going during a weekday–I noticed that EVERYTHING was much less stressful, cramped/crowded then. I had to take a day off work, but it was worth it.

I’m glad to hear you had such a positive experience. After a few of my experiences there I did some review searching online and there were quite a few bad reviews, mostly about the owner. I find that to be such a shame because it is such a nice little shop.
But regardless I definitely suggest going there on a weekday. Far less crowded, more time to spend browsing, and more relaxed employees.
