That’s impressive!! After being derailed for a year following a hip injury, I will be excited to get back into child’s pose and downward dog. 😛

@caits615:  Thank you! I don’t think a roller would have helped; I had a tear in the soft tissue in the joint, which was only just figured out a month ago after a year of pain. (And the whole thing started with running, ha!) I just got a cortisone injection yesterday, and I’ll know within a week or so if it fixed the problem, more or less. (It won’t fix the tear, but it should fix the inflammation and pain associated with the tear.) If so I’ll be getting back into yoga and running (I hope), trying to be careful about my form, footwear, and proper strenghtening exercises for my hips and back.

But once I do, I will definitely try out using a roller.

Do you have decent health insurance? If so, I would definitely have it checked out. And be persistent if the intial treatment doesn’t work! At first they decided I just had tendonitis or bursitis and had me do strengthening exercises. But after months it was still hurting, so I asked for a referral to an orthopedist. He ordered an arthroscopic MRI (basically, they inject a liquid into the joint that lets them find any small tears in the tissue with the MRI), which was how we figured out what it was.

Good luck!! Recurrent pain sucks.
