Okay Bees. I'm really really honestly and truly torn here. I wanted to get boudoir photos for FI done (well actually he caught me looking at some here on the Bee and perked up like "What's THAT?! Can you do that?!"). I picked a photographer and her work is incredible, but it's not cheap. FI saw the photographer I wanted and loved her work, but we're already spending a fortune on photography and cinematography for the wedding, so he suggested I wait and do the boudoir for an anniversary or something. I was a bit disappointed but agreed. I mean mostly all I can think is that I've worked really hard to lose a bit of weight and who knows if I'll be able to keep it up for a year, LOL! Or on the other hand, it could keep me honest and keep me working hard for the next year.

Wednesday is my hair and make up trial and I was thinking since I would be all dolled up anyways, it might be a good time to do the boudoir session and surprise him. I already talked to the photographer and she's available. Am I nuts?! What do you think? Should I do it or wait? Honestly, the money isn't a huge issue (thankfully) I just don't want him to look at it and love it but in the back of his head be tallying up totals.

If you do it now, you'll be saving money on hair/make-up costs :) I say go for it. Really.

When you're done with your hair trial, ask your stylist to let your hair down, so it's all curly and and you have, well, "bed hair" :) That would actually be REALLY sexy!

I also think you should go for it. He will sooo pleasantly surprised!

I'm also thinking to do boudoir photos as my anniversary gift for him. Since I also live in Toronto, who is the photographer you want to work with? I'm starting to look for possible photographer options...while I get back in shape:)

@bakerella: You sound like you really want to do it. If money isn't too much of an issue, then go for it. And this way you'll make good use of your hair and make-up trial too.

@sapphirebride: You're right, I do want to do it. I'm just nervous, and I also don't want to get caught up in the mentality of "Well we're spending all this money anyways, so this won't hurt....."

I say go for it! and the added bonus is that you will be making good use of your hair and make-up trial! Ask the make-up artist to put flase eyelashes on too. I love how my eyelashes looked in my boudoir pictures and they were fake!

For outfits, you can use lingerie as well as one of FI's dress shirts, a sports jersey, topless and just use a bed sheet etc... Or use props like a guitar, a book etc I also make sure to take fun jewelry and shoes with me!

@jaylii9: Oooh the dress shirt, I like that! Oh man, how am I going to get all out of the house without him noticing?! LOL!  My MUA is doing false lashes for my trial, so that will work out perfectly! I'm just checking with my jeweler to see if I can get my engagement ring back (it's being cast for my wedding band) in time. Oooh and I can wear the shoes I was wearing when we met! I was wondering how I was going to fit those in somewhere with the wedding!

@bakerella: Here's a pic of me wearing on of FI's dress shirts.

To get things out of the house I packed everything into a smal overnight bag and a garment bag. I snuck it of the house and into the trunk of my car the  night before my boudoir shoot!

I am getting my hair and make-up the day of my bachelorette party so I feel like I am making good use of the trials as well!

I say do it now since you're getting dolled up anyway (savings there) and once you get it, you can decide whether or not to show him now or later (at your 1st year anniversary). Either way, your dolled up, your fit and you have the cash for it. In a year's time who knows how much the photographer will charge. ;)

@jaylii9: Hawt!! Thanks! Hmmm I'll have to raid his closet tomorrow. He never really wears dress shirts (he's a contractor) and I don't exactly want to put on one of his smelly t-shirts, LOL! I'll dig through his closet though and find some stuff...

Okay Bees. You won. I booked it! ACK!!!! We're going to do it at an abandoned farm outside of the city since I'm too cheap to spring for a hotel room, I know FI will love the rustic tone to it. Hopefully no wandering sightseers come upon us! LOL!

Hell yeah!  You will be glad you did it and now he won't know it's coming!  I wore one of his shirts for mine, some bustiers, a risque bodysuit from american apparel, and some with just a guitar :).  He loved the one in his shirt the most!

I really would do it.  I'm glad that I didn't wait because my body isn't as nice and toned as it was before the wedding.

I decided to wait - 1st aniversary is paper after all :-)  but I'm glad I did because I found a great photographer who specializes in pinup boudoir, and includes pro hair and makeup.  But if you've found a photographer who does what you want, I say go for it!

DO IT! It was not only a ton of fun but it was something great to do for yourself. I felt so hot! It was also a great thing to share with close friends, my 2 besties came with and it was a blast! something special we could share and remember... not to mention FI is gonna love it. My FI too is the kind to total everything up and thinks so much about money, but honestly, I think I would regret it if I didn't do it... and when he's looking at pictures, he's not gonna be thinking about money! DO IT!

Well, I did it! Lisa and I shot last night with her awesome assistant Jenn (who got eaten alive by mosquitoes and didn't complain, she just kept putting on more bug spray). We shot in a farmer's field and Lisa went above and beyond my expectations. She's so creative and made me feel SO comfortable. I'm SO excited to see them! We had the perfect weather too, it was pretty humid, but the timing was perfect because we got some sunset and twilight shots. She showed me a few on her camera and they looked awesome, I can hardly wait to see them! Thanks for your encouragement and support Bees! I'll post when I get some back!!
