I was having the EXACT same problem. I think what my fiance and I are doing is not going with the covers.  We would just rather spend the moeny on other things for the wedding rather than covers. Once we thought about it more the cairs look fine without being covered and no one will leave the wedding thinking about chair covers anyway. I think your chairs will also be fine without covers. Save your money for something that matters more.

The covers look great, and I love the look of covered chairs.

But, if they will be too much, then they are too much.  It just depends.  I think the chairs look great without the covers.  They may not add enough wow factor to be worth the price.

I’m not a fan of chair covers. I think that, unless the chairs are PAINFULLY UGLY, that it’s okay to go without. And your chairs are fine. They’re not chic or stylish, but they’re plain and will fade into the decor.

Personally I think chair covers are a waste of money.  Are you chairs super ugly?  I wouldn’t do them since no one really notices them anyway!  Good luck deciding!

I think chair covers really pull a room together (and I notice them).  But if they aren’t in your budget, then don’t worry about it.
