My Wedding is in 8 months !! I’ve got all the vendors and now I’m starting to think about details. I’m definitely doing the bouquet toss, but not so sure about the garter toss. I don’t think I even want to wear one. It will be hot, annoying and probably keep falling down. What do u bees think? Should I follow this tradition ??? Opinions please!!

What do your FI think? I wasn’t going to wear one either until he told me he wants to do a garter toss.

I thought the same thing, but I never felt it and it did not move. I did make mine out of lace from my mother’s wedding dress so that was cool, but I completely forgot I had one on the entire day. I think that making it meant that it fit me perfectly and that I am sure helped alot.

@DanielleI: I wore a garter and we did a garter toss. It was tons of fun! There are mixed feelings on the garter toss these days so I would discuss it with your FI and see what you want to do.
For what it is worth I totally forgot I was wearing one for the better portion of the day. It wasn’t hot, itchy and didn’t slide.

I haven’t been to a wedding where there was a garter toss but I know what happens. I don’t like them. I’m, by no means, a prude but they make me feel 3rd party embarassment and it feels very dated and cheesy. That’s my hang up though, nobody elses.

I’m wearing one, getting a tartan one made to match his kilt, but we aren’t doing a garter toss, mostly because we are having a small-ish wedding and between my boss, gran and his wee cousins, I would NOT fancy that!

I only wore one because it was my Mom’s, so it was my old & blue. Did not do a garter toss, however- the only people who saw it were Mom, my photographer, and DH.

I wore one but took it off before the reception because it kept falling down!

FI is not up for it at all. He’s very shy when it comes to these type of things, so him going up my skirt is a no go. but didn’t know if I should include the toss anyway…. Will people miss it? I don’t think so. And I’ve been to so many weddings where the swap the girl who catches the bouquet for a guy with hairy legs while the guy who caught the garter is blind folded lol I think it’s a lil dated tradition.

@DanielleI: I debated on the garter as well. I wore one but didn’t have a garter toss….we had a small DW and wasn’t really wasn’t approp with our small croud of pretty much all married people. I would up kind getting mine last minute. I found it for only $10 on ebay and it was a San Diego Chargers garter since that wa DHs favorite team and it served as my something blue! I really only got it as a surprise for him and of course he loved it!
