Hmm. That’s a tough one. I don’t suppose you could go and have one Michelob Ultra before ducking out early?

So, I voted yes.  I hate when this happens to me, but I usually give in.  I am a believer in schmoozing with the higher ups, even when you don’t want to.  But, I would just stay for a beer or two and thn continue on to whole foods and enjoy the rest of your night!

Ugh…I love your original plan for your Friday night! 🙂 But, yes I agree, I would go. It will be nice, fun way to get to know your current boss…and that could definitely help out down the road…Humarock’s name comes up for a huge promotion & "temp" boss is all Oh yeah, she’s awesome, I got to know her while she was out here on assignment!

I’ve had this happen before while on a task force assignment.

Have fun if you do decide to go!!!

I think it’s a good idea to go, just to get to know your boss.  But I can totally understand if you don’t want to go!

Well  Humarock…my thoughts are this (totally fiscally based of course)…go if you think there’s a chance you could end up with a long term gig here and if they seem to genuinely like you..could be cementing a good professional relationship!  I am still friends with several women I worked with in my first job after college.  We all still see each other and we went on a vacation together about four years ago..it was fun!  Although we don’t work together anymore, they’re always a FABULOUS source of reference within my tight knit specialty and that’s good to have.

Either way sweetie, have fun tonight!  Love ya!

I also think it’s a good idea for you to go and hang out. Get to know the people better. It’s always good to network. Or maybe tell your boss that you had something planned already but you can drop by for a bit (so it gives you a reason to leave earlier without looking like you don’t enjoy it).
