I think having a script for the outer envelope would be perfectly fine. Then for the inner informal envelope you can just write them out in normal writing, not fancy writing. If that makes sense.
I don't have the greatest handwriting, especially in cursive, so my decision to run them through the printer was easy as pie. I say go for it!
I voted to go hand written, all the way, but it really depends on how many you'll have to do. If it's over 100, then definitely print out the addresses! I'd still hand write the inner envelopes, though.
I think I'm going to print the addresses on the envelopes with a handwriting font and then trace over it....
Waaaaaay too much time to handwrite!
Plus, our wedding is super modern with very clean sans-serif fonts and lots of geometric detailing... handwriting just doesn't fit in with the "feel" of it. But, if we were having a more traditional or rustic theme, I think I might pay someone to do fablous caligraphy...
Do you have the time to handwrite all of your invitations? To me, it seems like it would be a lot of work - I think that there are plenty of nice fonts out there and you could just use your home printer to add the addresses.

I have pretty decent handwriting (I've been asked by a couple friends to do their escort cards) - I'm never happy with how they look (I'm a perfectionist) but when they are all sitting out on the table, everyone oohs and aahs.
That said - I always thought I'd hand address my wedding invites. But, after my last round of Christmas cards - thought - NO WAY!
So, I'm leaning towards using a very pretty, scrolly font and running them through the computer.
Am I insane to want to do this?
Should I go the personalized route and hand address them?
What are you/did you opt to do?
