A friend of mine who is a makeup artist was going to do the makeup for my wedding but now can’t because of other work commitments.
No big deal, it was a really nice thing for her to do but I’ll just DIY my makeup no problem. My mom, very sweetly, arranged an appointment for me at Benefit for the week before my wedding so they could do my makeup, tell me how to do it, etc.
The only problem is that I am VERY allergic to Vit. E aka Tocopherol which is in most makeup nowadays.
So my question is, should I go to Benefit with list of the products they can and can’t use even though that includes all of their concealers, blush, and lipstick? or should I just remind my mom that as sweet as the gesture is I would rather use makeup I know I won’t have a reaction to for my wedding?

I would say skip going to Benefit since you can’t use their make up anyway and I wouldnt want you to risk having less than perfect skin for your wedding! Having red bumps on your face post benefit make up session, a week before your wedding might just give you anxiety attacks! (I know I would!)
Perhaps you could look for a make up artist who could do the make up for you using that specific brand that will not cause you any allergy or one who can just make use of what you have. Could also discuss for the need to get additional cosmetics, if required to achieve the blushing look for your big day!
Good luck & congrats! 🙂

why not call them and see if they would let you bring your own substitutions for the products of theirs that you are allergic to? then you can still get some tips and tricks and no skin reactions.

I would definitely recommend using high quality makeup, and going for a tutorial. I would also recommend shopping around and finding a brand that wont make you break out in hives…

Don’t let products get in the way, I’m sure you aren’t the only person who has this problem! I agree with rosworms on calling to see if you can bring your own or call around and see what place may favor in the products you can use. Good luck!

Thanks everybody! I think I’ll call and see if they’ll let me bring lipstick and other things that they can’t provide and then learn a little something.
