it also depends on what your dress looks like I think. I thought I wanted a colored shoe but with the Bees advice it turns out that wouldnt look good with my style or color of dress!
maybe a little more insight on the dress might help determine more?

I'm having a hard time deciding, because they are all fun colors? What are your girls wearing for the dresses and shoes?
I voted purple just because mine are purple!
My colors are blue and green, so I obviously am not partial to them matching the wedding party. Get what you like. That's the fun of wearing a long dress.

The girls are wearing berry colored Alfred Angelo dresses. Style 7002
And charcoal gray shoes, they haven't gotten them yet. I let them decide the style for boththe dress and the shoes so that they would like what they got.

Pretty! Match if you can...if not i love the teal. You can throw in a few teal accents here and there to tie it all together nicely.

In that case, I'd probably wear purple shoes so you kind of go with your girls!

Both blue and red will be in my wedding... and as much as I love red... I love the idea of blue shoes for the something blue...
I love the something blue idea - I bet it would make for some really cool getting ready pics the morning of!

I can't decide on what color shoes to get. I know I want a pair of colored satin d'orsays, but I'm not sure. My wedding colors are charcoal grey and a berry/wine color.
Should I go purple?
Should I wear teal as my something blue?
Or should I do fabulous red (which could match our color palette).
