I personally think "You Look so Good in Love" is a more appropriate choice, so i voted it was too romantic.
THAT SAID - If you have your heart set on this song though, do it! For my 1st wedding, my song was "Alabama Rain" by Jim Croce - hardly anyone knew it, but my daddy used to play it for me on his guitar, so it was special to US. I never regretted that choice.
Have you considered "I loved her first" by Heartland? My dad and I danced to "Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn and my sister and my dad danced to "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.
My dad calls me every other day with a new song he wants us to dance too... some of his choices...
My Wish, I loved her first, What a wonderful World. No matter what the song is I know I will be bawling the whole time, But I think "I loved her first" just pulls at the heartstrings the most!
Even tho it's a little cliche/cheesy, I can't help but tear up every time I hear Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl."
I am dancing to I loved her first - when I played it for my dad (we don't listen to country regularly) he teared up and I knew it had to be it!
But I voted go for it - if you love it and he loves it I say do it!
or what about "How Bout Them Cowgirls?" if you really wanted George Strait? Of course if Amarillo By Morning is YOUR song-- then that is definitely the song you should dance to! You shouldn't worry about what other people will think, its a moment for just you and your dad.
hmmm....yeah I think I need a song that has significance. Most of the songs we listened to growing up are too hard to dance to.
We listened to a lot of Bonnie Raitt, George Straight, Steely Dan, and Garth Brooks (which is significant, because I was born in OK).
We also joked about doing father/daughter Karoke - which would be hilarious for my mom, sister, and dad and I but probably no one esle!
I like these suggestions!
We danced to My Wish by Rascal Flatts, it was a big hit, everyone loved it!
Go with Amarillo By Morning! It's an awesome song and everyone will be so touched at how cute you are with your dad that no one is going to care that it's not the 'traditional' f/d song. I'd rather see a f/d dance to a song that meant something to them then something 500 other brides have danced to because it was 'appropriate'. Of course that's just MY opinion. In the end it's YOUR choice.
I didn't want to use "My Little Girl" or "I loved her first" because everyone where I am from uses those. I am actually going to use "Best Day" by Taylor Swift.
There's nothing wrong with Amarillo By Morning if your dad prefers that. I also agree with the suggestion of How About Them Cowgirls, also by George Strait.
I really like "My Wish" by Rascall Flatts because my FI will be dancing with his Mom while I dance with my Dad. But I think "It Just Comes Natural" is an awesome song for you and your dad. I think everyone will see it in the right light! I don't know Amarillo by Morning, but if its the song you want then go for it!
Ah! I think we found one! Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison because we both love that song....it's over 6 minutes long...so we have to cut it down.
I say don't be afraid to go with something a little on the un-traditional side...it will be more memorable that way, and it will mean more to you and your dad.
LOVE the karoke idea!
Is it a traditional f/d dance song? Nope. Is it over teh top romantic and inappropriate? Nope. I'd say go for it if it fits the bill as a song yall love. What could be more natural than a parents love for child? :)
I am thinking about Geroge Strait " Love without end, amen" my dad would always sing this song to my brother & I and he NEVER sings. I know he really loves this song, but technically the song is about a father & son.....is that weird to play?

I was thinking George Strait's " Love without end, amen" my dad used to sing this song to my brother & I and he NEVER sings! BUT, this song is techinically about a son & his father....do ya'll think thats weird to play if for our dance?

Aw, I love "It Just Comes Natural." So sweet.
At the end of the day, though, choose the song that means something to you. The guests won't mind. :)
If my dad were still alive, we'd probably have the hardest time finding a song. I hate the cheesy songs about fathers and daughters, but they're so abundant.

I am trying to decide on the father/daughter song. My dad is not much of a dancer, but he likes country music. He loves George Straight and the song "Amarillo by Morning". However I don't think that song would be easy to dance to. So a newer George Straight song is: "It Just Comes Natural" I love that song! I am wondering if it is appropriate for a Father Daughter dance. Here are the lyrics: http://www.lyrics.com/lyrics/george-strait/it-just-comes-natural.html
Thanks for helping me decide.
If you have other suggestions in this genre, that would be great too!
