Good afternoon Wedding Bees!
I’m hoping to get some feedback on my wedding set…as I’m sure many of you have experienced when having your ring made, the options are endless and can leave you feeling like you want a little bit of everything out there!
We’re having my set custom made since I want a natural sapphire center stone. The debate I’ve been having with myself since the day I found out I could shop for it was, do I go white sapphire/white gold or peach sapphire or morganite/rose gold (14K, soft pink hue as pictured below)? I’m keeping the wedding set monochromatic since I’ll be stacking other rings on when I’m feeling quirky (e.g. yellow gold, white gold if I get the set in rose gold and rose gold if I get the set in white gold). The centre stone of my e-ring will be 1.5/2 carat equivalent, plain shank with milgrain work framing the stone and setting.
I generally wear silver jewelry but do bring out the yellow gold when I dress up. I do not own any rose gold, but I think it’s so feminine and might pick some up.
Alternately I get the best of both worlds and go white sapphire/white gold for my wedding set and go peach sapphire or morganite/rose gold as a right-hand ring.
If any of you have had this dilemma I’d love to hear from you.

@DMC: oooooh. I vote for peach sapphire and rose gold.
I had the dilemma of rose gold vs. white for my set. I chose rose, and even though I didn’t think it would, it kind of bothered me that all my other jewelry is silver and clashed. I think it’s really wise for you to consider other colors of metals as stacking rings.
I would definitely recommend a sapphire over morganite since sapphires are harder. I had a garnet for an engagement ring, which is a 7-7.5 (morganites are 7.5-8) and I’m rather clumsy and work with my hands and I destroyed that garnet. Now I’m getting a couple of sapphires, with mixed metals so it will go with any jewelry I’m wearing. 🙂
Hope this helps :)) Good luck.

@OP: You sound so much like me!! Just this morning I said to SO “Do I get rose gold and throw in white every so often or do I get the whole thing in white and add rose when I feel like it?” …. which was greeted with a giant eye roll. I think the rose/pink is STUNNING and even better, so unusual. That said, if you’re crazy like I am and think you would really be bothered by it not matching most of your stuff … go with white … yep that wasn’t very helpful was it :-/

I’d go for the rose gold and peach sapphire. If you were to get a white sapphire (with white gold) in that size, I’d be afraid of it looking dull/glassy. Not bashing the stone – I’ve seen some beautiful white sapphire rings, but the bigger you go with that, the less fire it usually has.

@DMC: Rose gold because you won’t need to worry about re-plating!

I think the rose gold is a great option. It’s very beautiful and will also be a more unique choice.

love the rose…its stunning!
I personally don’t like mixing and matching metals, so I would stick to the same metal or colour that your wear most often, but if you like to mix and match, go with the rose!

Thanks for all the comments, it looks like the rose gold is getting lots of love!!! <3
So far my designer hasn’t had any luck finding a cushion cut natural white sapphire (antique or square). She’s suggested I go with an oval cut 1.96ct stone. I’ll have to think about it. I doubt I’ll have much more luck with a peach sapphire.
Option B might be that I have to hunt for the stone myself if I absolutely want the cushion cut.
@wrkbrk: Haha, who was the eye roll from?

Rose!!! I love morganite with rosegold, but a peachy sapphier would be gorgeous as well. If I had it to do again I would do rose gold. 🙂

@OP: eye roll from my SO because I drive her crazy with my ring ponderings!!!! 🙂

No matter the metal, I’m totally voting peach sapphire! I just don’t find white that inspiring. I think I’d go white for the ering and rose for the band, just to balance the amount of pink in my set 🙂

Peach sapphire on rose gold, definitely! Totally swoon-worthy!
