I'm hoping to donate mine. I didn't pay much for it, and it's an overseas copy, so I know no one will be paying much for it :) and I don't really need to recoup the money - but I do know there are women out there who can't afford a great gown!
I am planning on keeping it, just for the sentimental reasons (and like you said you remember trying on your moms and having fun, which is something I would like my children to have) My mom never kept her dress, and I wish I could have had fun dressing up with hers.
Great thread @farmersdaughter, I didn't spend as much as some do on dresses but I'm on a major budget and to me it's really a tough decision. To make it worse one of my flower girls, who I'm VERY close with picked it our for me. I literally was going to send it back because I didn't think it would work (I'm a bit top heavy) but my flower girl said no that's my favorite please try it on for me, man was I wrong and my little fashionista flower girl nailed it! So now it's more sentimental and I have no idea what to do!
i still dont know what will i do with it. i will sell it or donate it.
I'll probably hang onto it for a while and then sell it, but I didn't spend a ton on it so I don't really care about recouping my money.
I just recently sold a bunch of pageant dresses that I loved but haven't worn in two years, I got tired of storing them, I imagine I'll get to the same place eventually with my dress (maybe in a few years).
I talked about trashing it... until I found my dream dress. Now I can't imagine destroying it! It sounds corny but I almost feel like I have a special bond with the dress... it was such an intense feeling when I found it. I will keep it forever... even if my daughter never wears it I think it will be something that would be fun to pull out over the years and show to my children and future grandchildren!
No room in our small apartment so definitely selling it. I mean them...Um, I have somehow happened to acquire three dresses...
I'm planning to do a Trash the Dress photo shoot!! I'm soooooooo excited and have read posts by lots of bees that really enjoyed doing that.
But, I'm still hesitant to actually use my wedding dress... might buy a cheap back-up, haven't decided yet... If I do, then I'm back to square one on not knowing what to do with my wedding dress after the big day! LOL :)
I'm saving mine, hoping to make a christening gown out of it in a few years.

Are you doing with your dress after the wedding? I'm conflicted about selling mine - on the one hand, financially it'd be really nice to get a substantial amount of $$ back after the wedding, and what am I going to use my dress for after the wedding? But on the other hand, the sentimental side of me wonders if I'll regret not having it. My mom kept hers and we have so many fun pictures from my parent's anniversaries over the years trying on her dress and veil.
So bees, what are you doing? And if you're married and sold your dress, did you regret it?
