Ok ladies, here is my dilemma…
I am an apple shaped, top heavy, big armed woman with her dream dress, unfortunately, in her dreams and not in stores (surprise, surprise). So when I came across two styles that I couldnt help but come back to, I had an epiphany. Why not combine the two styles together?! After some drawing and cutting and taping images together, I have created THE DRESS. Lace, silk satin organza, and a chapel train later, I became obsessed. It was all I could see myself walking down the aisle in. Then it struck me, I am going to have this dress made, which meant, I would have to trust someone to not only create my vision, but to help me realize it on my own body type. After bouts of sweaty palms and lengthy emails to a custom dress tailor, I calmed down a little and if I saw the dress on my body in my dreams, I would do nothing but love it.
I did say I had a question, didn’t I?
So ladies, my question to you is, is it appropriate looking when a plus size bride with arms larger than most, wears long sleeves with a full ballroom skirt?
After looking at several plus size wedding dresses with sleeves, I am appalled, nee, infuriated with the options thrown at us by so called designers. Most of these “sleeves” are cap, or if at full length, sheer with bell sleeves, UGH! Surely, since we are fuller figured, should we not have the same wedding dress accessorizing options as brides who are not as curvy?
I have posted pictures below of what my vision entails. In the first picture, I want the “jacket” with the long sleeves and the sash (which will be black for the ceremony). The second picture is for the full ballroom skirt and the satin belt (which will be black for the reception). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this combination together and can only contemplate this dress being nothing short of stunning.
Did you have long sleeves on your dress?
