So my bridal gown search has been since (believe it to not) 2009 I am a larger woman (but we r working on that) it was suggested and I believe it that I stick to dropped waist gownthat says what seems to be my type. I’ve had my eye on sottero and midgleysLoretta dress it has all the glam up top and then settles into that full pleated ball gown my only problem is there is 1 place in my STATE that has this dresstand this dress does not fit me. What do I do I keep coming back to this dress but in pictures this dress does not look like a true dropped waist I’m afraid to order cause what if I do t like it when it comes in???? Has anyone ever ordered without trying it on? Or has anyone worn this dress that can tell me where the waist drops to? This is such an important date I’m not sure I can just order without trying it on

@J_stanaitis: I would not order the dress if you have never tried it on. That’s a HUGE commitment (and expensive!). I know when I was trying on dresses some would look completely different on me.

@J_stanaitis: I did exactly that – I ordered my gown over the phone without ever having tried it on.
I did go and try similar style gowns (mermaid) and knew they suited me, but I don’t have a Vera Wang stockist where i live, so I had to order it from the States (I’m in Australia!). I had never even seen or touched it in real life.
In the end I have my gown now, it fits like a glove with no alterations necessary and I’m in love with it.
It’s a huge gamble and there’s no turning back. If you go down that path, be sure to try on as many similarly shaped gowns as possible. Try ones in a similar style and fabric to get an idea of how it will sit on your body.
I was the same as you – I tried on many other gowns, but my heart kept going back to the Vera that I saw in photos, so I went with my heart.
