E.L.F has amazing make-up products. I've been buying their stuff since 2007 when my friend told me about them. :) I'm not sure if all Targets have it, but the one near me had a little section of E.L.F products for like $1. I was so ecstatic.
I'm right there with you. Once I decided to do my own makeup, I went into overdrive at Sephora. I used to buy E.L.F. a few years ago and recently rediscovered it at Target. I like their smaller brushes. They come in handy and don't break the bank!
I have to say, I get my shadows, bronzers, and blush from Sephora, but my favorite eyeliner is Rimmel ($4) and my favorite mascara is Ulta or Victoria's Secret ($10-12).
Because of this post I went out and bought a bunch of ELF to try out. It was awesome and I even watched a sappy movie to see if it would run - NOPE. I tried, gloss, shadow, eye liner and waterproof mascara. All great! Thanks for the tip!!!
I got six of their lip glosses for $1.99 at Ross!
Just decided last night to do my own makeup, and was looking on the Sephora website for the first time ever. My issue is going to be staying power- since we're starting early in the morning and biking around all day. I think I'm gonna have to get on the primer and setting mist, but have never used such things before!
@ebreese : woohoo! that is so exciting...why wasn't this around when I first started wearing make-up? It would have saved me so much money and time using other products that ruined my skin and weren't as pigmented as ELF's
@double0bride: A good primer is a must. I use bare minerals prime time or Benefit's primed and poreless (which I really like but its spendy)
as far as a powder to set it all--I've tried a lot out there and Mac's mineral skin finish will always be my favorite since it doesn't look cakey but has good coverage over foundation.
I haven't found a setting spray I like yet :-/ I've used Mac fix+ and it makes my skin feel oily. I've thought about trying Model in a Bottle since it was on Oprah awhile ago but...I've also heard when you spray it, it can make your skin look blotchy because it doesn't go on the skin evenly. So I think I'm going to forget about the setting spray (or try a few different one's) but I will use oil absorbing sheets every time I have a second to myself on the wedding day. I don't have super oily skin but with a lot of products on my face, it feels that way sometimes.
I'm only nervous to try ELF's face products because some contain ingredients that can make me break out...so I might try them after the wedding. However, I am so impressed with their make-up brushes. Buh-bye $50 mac brushes.
@Heatherloveskenny: ELF has a setting spray. I think it was $3! It's the first one I've ever tried, so I don't have anything to compare it to. But, it seemed to work well, and wasn't oily at all. Very refreshing, actually!
Something tells me you ladies are waaaay better at this stuff than me! I think I'll buy my products sooner rather than later so I can practice!
double0bride: I grew up with three older sisters, I did all of my friends make-up for formals, and I go through these phases of loving make-up and trying new things, to not caring haha.
@ebreese: I will have to try it! I think I'm going to try a few, model in a bottle and skindinavia finishing spray (they have a bridal skin finish!)
so my curiousity just doesn't save me money :-/
I'm doing my own make-up, I have bought everything I'm gonna need (except foundation, which I have a really hard time finding the right tone for me) from ELF, and I absolutely love it! Still waiting for the waterproof eyeliner, can't wait to test it!
ELF Rocks!! Not sure I like the lipstick so much though. Feels kinda dry or something. Hard to explain :p
Ooh, you will like the water proof eye liner (the liquid I am assuming), I love it... it has a sponge applicator instead of a brush like MAC's so it's easier to apply and not mess up.
@Heatherloveskenny: You are so right! ELF is great, but you do have to try everything out- I'm not a fan of thier shadows and a few other items, but I was happy I'd only spent a few bucks to figure that out! I was excited when Target started selling it. Some of my fave makeup finds are drugstore/budget brands including Rimmel eyeliners (as mentioned above), Maybelline mascaras & Burts Bees anything. I could spend literally all day in Sephora, but my wallet won't always allow it :)
I love ELF! Their studio brushes are great and they have nice quality blushes.
@double0bride: if you are still looking at this, I have to tell you I received my skindinavia make up finish spray yesterday in the mail, the Bridal kind, and I wore my make-up for a good 14 hours yesterday with the skin finish on and it looked awesome. It smells good too :) So I know that it hold my make up in place. I don't know if it will break me out or anything yet so I will use it and make sure of that but so far I am LOVIN' it. But I'm pretty positive it's the one I will use on my wedding day!
@rachgirl82: I know, you really have to test out their stuff. I think their shadows are a lot more pigmented than sephora's brand make up, or even some of urban decays and Tarte's. But I have to agree with you on burts bee's. I have an obsession with their chapstick!

@Heatherloveskenny:thanks for the link to that setting spray. Any breakout issues or irritation?
I hadn't bought any eyeshadow in like a year (NOT a makeup guru like some of you!) so I went to Target to find some new shades. Found an ELF compact with 32 colors in it for $5. Considering I'm the cheapest person ever, I figured "why not?!"
Best decision ever. The shades are rich and beautiful, and stay really well! I'll have to try out some of their other products!
@yaneres: not yet! I wore it again today and I'm so excited about it! my make up has been on since 7am and it doesn't look bad yet. I'll repost in about two weeks to tell ya if it irritated my skin at all but all of the reviews on it are pretty decent too

Hi Bee's!
This past month I have spent so much time (and money) looking for good make-up products and comparing everything I've used in the past so I can do my own "glam" make-up for my wedding. I have used absolutely everything out there. And I've spent probably around 2 grand just at MAC in the past two years. Probably 2 grand more at sephora if not more. I've finally decided what the best products are for my face (primer, foundation, powder) and they are all pricey...
But for everything else there is E.L.F. cosmetics (eyes, lips, face). I've heard about it from a few of my friends but was kind of stuck up when it came to buying make-up. WHY didn't I listen to them!!? Yes, you have got to shop through it because some of it is cheap but seriously coming from someone who has used every department store and drug store brand this is an exciting break through. Everything I have bought from E.L.F is amazing so far.
I am loving E.L.F for the little things, like eye brow pencils, eye shadow, face brushes. All for $1-$3...YES please!
Just wanted to let all of you know about this who didn't already. I am in love !
Oh and lately I am so into deals. TJ Maxx, Hautelook.com, groupon...all of it. I just can't pass them up. So E.L.F can definitely be added to the list now :)
