@stephanie63087: Yup, if you can find a pattern you like, Corelle is the way to go. My parents have had the same set of Corelle for everyday use since before I was born, and apart from a few chips on the bowls (which is inevitable eventually no matter what brand you go with) and a few plates broken through human error, they’re all still as good as new.

@secondchances: Yup. The older ones look really dated, but they’ve given themselves a serious makeover and they have some really beautiful options now.

I’m another corelle fan. They’re fantastic. I have a set in plain white.

They do tend to get brittle with age (like 30+ years), because they’re actually a form of tempered glass, so they probably won’t last to be passed on to your grandkids like bone china would, but they’re definitely more durable than earthenware. I’ve dropped plates on the ground from standing height and had them be fine.

I don’t think they sell them anymore, but I wouldn’t reccommed getting mugs in the opaque glass that the dishes are made of, they tend to make beverages taste funny.

I have a set in pure white, and I love them. They’re so clean-looking, and they go with everything. I think they also have pure ivory if that’s more your style.

I agree with the posts above, I only buy Corelle. Everything else gets broken, but they can get dropped and never a chip.

We’ve got Corelle too. Just plain white (Winter Forest White). We have a few plates that are from when my sister was in college 10-12 years ago – they’ve been in boxes for half of that time, but they are still in great shape.
