So, I am beginning to get a bit torn….
My original plan was to NOT wear a veil at all for my wedding, however I started thinking about the “birdcage” and fascinator rave thats going on right now. My gown is modern vet vintage which would suit the birdcage/fascinator look.
BUT…my mother doesn’t tend to think so.
She insists that I get a full veil with blusher whether it is shoulder length, mid-back length or full on cathedral!
Her main reasoning for this request is so that my father will be able to have the full experience of giving his daughter, the Bride away on the wedding day.
Soooooooo…..as you have read I am in a bit of a pickle. I am the type of person that tends to appease everyone, however I really feel like sticking to my guns on this one and going for the birdcage/fascinator look!

Oh, that’s a tough one! Can you compromise – wear the veil/blusher for the ceremony, and switch to your fascinator or birdcage for the reception?
Also, do you know if this is really important to your dad, or could your mom be using that argument to convince you because that’s what she wants/envisions?

Your mom is already married. Do whatever you want, although there are some birdcages that have blusher-like pieces.

I like PP’s suggestion of compromising. Why not directly ask your Dad how he feels about it, if he wants the action of actually lifting your veil and kissing you the cheek? I asked my Dad and got a resounding YES that he really wants to do that, so it made me happy knowing he’d get a kick out of that, and so I’m doing a double veil instead of a single. Perhaps his answer will help guide you.

I wouldn’t get so caught up with what mom and dad want. On your wedding day, they’ll just be thinking about how gorgeous you are: not nitpicking about what type of veil your wore.
Go with your birdcage!
